Keep your eyes fixed on River West, an expansive neighborhood that’s quickly becoming a hotspot for Chicago renters. The area is situated just west of the Chicago River and bounded by the Kennedy Expressway to the north and south, and Chicago Avenue to the north. There has been a surge of revitalization and renovation efforts in this charming Windy City locale. Spoke Apartments has been such a great place to live! The pool is the best spot to hang out in the summer — it’s always a fun, social vibe and the perfect way to enjoy the warm weather. One of my favorite perks is the free coffee and pastries every Friday morning from Big Shoulders, my go-to coffee shop. The community here is amazing — both the residents and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I also absolutely love my floor-to-ceiling windows; they let in so much natural light and make my apartment feel so open and bright. As a dog owner, I really appreciate the amenities for pets. My pup loves the dog run, and the dog spa is such a bonus for quick cleanups. Spoke truly thinks of everything — I couldn’t be happier living here!

Staff goes out of their way to plan resident events, there is breakfast in the lobby every Friday, free fitness class twice weekly, and countless happy hours and fun pop ups! My apartments is beautiful for an amazing price and staff + maintenance goes out of their way to ensure that the building stays looking amazing.

We’ve lived at Spoke for 2 months now and we are thrilled! The Staff honestly could not be more friendly and helpful! Kevin, Yensi, Michael, and Alex have all been absolutely amazing! The amenities here are so wonderful, and the outdoor green space makes me feel like I’m at the park just sitting out on the terrace. The pool, hot tub, and gym are so well-maintained, sparkling clean and top notch. The views from my apartment are amazing and the Skydeck skyline view must be one of the best in the city! Great grocery and food court on the first floor. The Blue Line is steps from the front door. Fun community events scheduled every month. Big roomy apartment, great value, love myself some Spoke!!

The events were fine but management was terrible. I’ve spoken to multiple fellow residences of spoke and every single person unanimously agrees that for the amount that we pay in rent, management is no help at all. They done escalate concerns properly or promptly, they take forever to get back to emails, they avoid phone calls at every chance they get, and they don’t collaborate with greystar upper management to get issues resolved. The entire time I lived in spoke, multiple issues were never resolved: 1) a pending payment issue, (still wasn’t fixed) 2) my name was never updated on the kiosk downstairs so I couldn’t scan anyone into the building for the entire almost full year I lived here, 3) my mail kept going missing all the time and I kept getting other peoples mail (due to the fact that my name was never updated that I lived here) On top of that, maintenance would enter my apartment without my knowledge and there were various residences who never got refunded for a billing error 8 months ago where they were double charged (and they STILL haven’t been refunded their money that they are legally entitled to) trash was constantly full, community events were few and far between and management would forget to inform us of important events, front desk closures, and even safety issues in the area. They failed to ensure resident safety here multiple times. The reviews online are correct, living here was not worth it and I’ll never recommend it.

We do everything within our power as a team to make this a place for everyone to enjoy by offering weekly resident activities such as yoga, HIIT workouts, breakfast on the go, and our lemonade/tea bar weekly as well as 1 large event a month, so it saddens us to hear that you are saying you did not get that experience that others have had. We do not have any pending emails with any residents regarding any of the issues that you had listed, nor can recall or find any communication with any resident about the concerns you listed. Spoke is lovely! I'm writing this review from "The Venue," a room that's open to all residents and complete with a pool table, stage w/ musical instruments, and the coolest tables! Great place to invite friends and kick back, as well as areas to study! Highly recommend Spoke.

Overall the apartments and amenities are great! The grocery store downstairs is amazing and even has a food court. You have CVS right across and a bank. The gym is very nice and so is the 4th floor terrace.

For the rent you're paying here, Spoke delivers great customer service, amenities, staff and living conditions! Maintenance requests are handled day of, the 24/7 front desk is extremely helpful and accommodating, and the in-building gym, pool, jacuzzi, and outdoor area round out a truly luxurious experience. One year into my Spoke experience and I have no complaints. The location is great as it's close to many different neighborhoods, the blue line is also close which is convenient. Management has been very direct and on time which is great, and the amenities here are fantastic!

I love the Friday morning coffee which sometimes comes with pastries. Residents get to mingle and start talking to each other over coffee and pastries. These little things speaks a lot about the thoughts that goes into developing a strong community spirit at Spoke.

They can’t keep the elevators working. This has been going on since last year. One of them is almost always down. Sometimes both. You want a great lower body workout, move here.

I’ve lived here since this place opened. Through trial and error I think they finally have an incredible management in place that makes you feel like you’re part of a community. Can’t complain about a single thing besides wanting to own an apartment building here I love Spoke so much! It will forever be my favorite home while renting :)
