Property Ratings at Smithson Village Townhomes
I was all set to move in after going through a background check, paying the deposit and application fee, paying to get electricity switched over into my name, paying for the renters insurance that they require, and paying the prorated rent. I picked up the key on the morning I was supposed to move in, moved a few boxes and headed back to my place to get another load. Maybe 2 hours after I picked up the key I was informed that I was actually not going to be allowed to move in because I have too many snakes. I had let these people know before hand that I owned several reptiles and amphibians, none of which are venomous or considered large constrictors, and was initially told it would be fine. Apparently the owner had misunderstood that fact and then proceeded to throw a fit and threaten to take legal action against me if I were to move in my animals which had been previously ok'd. I had signed the lease AND animal addendum stating that there wouldn't be any issue with them. I will NEVER lease from Canyon Land and I strongly suggest that no one else tries to rent from them as well. This has been the most unprofessional interaction I have ever experienced from any leasing company and has wasted a month of my time which now leaves me with less than 3 weeks to find a new place and move in before I have to leave my current apartment complex. Absolutely terrible company.
