Area Guide
Tucked between Weston and Pembroke Pines, Southwest Ranches is a rural community in the heart of the southwestern Broward County suburbs. Southwest Ranches is largely residential, and many of the houses available for rent in the community sit on large plots of land with lush lawns and plenty of space between neighbors.
There are quite a few farms and stables in Southwest Ranches, with many opportunities for enjoying fresh produce in addition to horseback riding. The community famously does not have any sidewalks in an effort to preserve the rural lifestyle of the area.
Although Southwest Ranches may feel like a secluded farming community, it is convenient to an array of suburban amenities in neighboring cities, including the Pembroke Lakes Mall, the Shops at Pembroke Gardens, and countless strip malls and plazas on major roadways. Commuting from Southwest Ranches is relatively simple with access to Interstate 75 as well as Griffin Road and Sheridan Street.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
