University of Houston Houston, TX

A first-rate university with all the resources of Texas’ biggest city

Urban Nightlife Live Music

The University of Houston provides a stimulating academic environment in the heart of its namesake city. Being in one of the biggest cities in the United States gives students a lot of advantages in everything from finding an internship to finding something to do on the weekend. Since the campus is so close to Midtown and Downtown, Houston’s excellent selection of dining, entertainment, and nightlife is at your fingertips. For something a little more accessible at the end of a long day, The Den is a favorite hangout for students right on the edge of campus (be sure to drop in for karaoke night for extra shenanigans). MacGregor Park and the Brays Bayou Greenway are great for an invigorating run or bike ride, or just lounging in the sun between classes. The annual Frontier Fiesta is one of the campus community’s favorite events, with free concerts, a barbecue cook-off, and carnival booths taking over a section of UH every spring.
