A cornerstone of the world’s biggest medical center

Public Urban Medical Healthcare Hospital Walkable

A relatively young institution, UT Health forms a major component of Houston’s Texas medical Center, widely recognized as the largest medical center on the planet. The facilities are nationally ranked in research and primary care. Of the approximately 5,000 students enrolled, around 1,200 are nursing students, 1,300 are public health students, and 1,000 are medical students, with significant enrollment in the School of Dentistry and various biomedical science programs. UT Health’s location in the Texas Medical Center section of Houston is surrounded by a diverse blend of urban amenities. Apart from the neighboring hospitals and treatment centers, the Houston Zoo is the most dominant landmark in the area, with the Museum District right on the other side. Rice University is practically next door, and the Rice Village complex of shops and restaurants is a popular local hangout. Several of the local neighborhoods contain apartments, houses, and condos within a short walk of the Medical Center, although rental rates vary dramatically.
