Founded in 1960, Houston Baptist University offers an intimate college experience in the heart of one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the United States. HBU helps develop students of character and competence by providing opportunities to engage in a Christ-centered community focusing on academic success, spiritual formation, interpersonal development, and physical well-being. While HBU is a Christian organization, a number of other world religions are represented within the student body.
Stretched across more than 100 acres in Southwest Houston, HBU is proximate to plenty of apartments and condos available for rent near campus. Sharpstown, Braes Heights, and Uptown are all convenient to the HBU campus. Access to the I-69 as well as Westpark Tollway and Sam Houston Tollway makes commuting from farther distances feasible too.
NCAA Division I Husky athletics, over 70 clubs and organizations, and a variety of fun events and activities shape campus life at HBU. Chinatown, the Museum District, and several extensive shopping centers are located just off campus. Houston’s thriving downtown district and the opportunities for jobs, internships, and fun that surround it are just minutes away as well.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
