Corvallis is a classic college town, with OSU serving as the primary focal point for the entire community. Much of the beautiful campus is designated as part of the Oregon State University Historic District, and is filled with stunning architecture. The Beavers athletics program is consistently competitive and regularly draws big crowds for football and basketball in particular. The downtown area of Corvallis along the Willamette River is only a few blocks away, packed with excellent locally-owned restaurants, coffeehouses, and nightlife venues. Catch a classic movie at the Whiteside Theatre or head across the street to the Darkside Cinema for a more contemporary flick. Rental rates near the OSU campus tend to be quite affordable, with countless apartments, condos, and even houses within easy walking distance available for under $1,000 per month. The majority of the major classroom buildings are on the north side of the campus, so if you’re looking for a spot that’s convenient for getting to class you may want to look for a place around Monroe Avenue or King’s Boulevard. For more balanced access to both the university and the city center, you’ll want to seek living arrangements between 11th Street and Pacific Highway.
