Located in the southwestern corner of Brighton on the edge of Chestnut Hill, Boston College offers a gorgeous campus bordering the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. The college was established in 1863 and it is a private Catholic university. The campus is a historic district, featuring several outstanding examples of gothic architecture. Flying buttresses aside, Boston College is prestigious and top-ranking. The college offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs.
The BC Eagles participate in NCAA Division I as part of the Atlantic Coast conference. The men's ice hockey team is considered one of the country's best with five national championships. Cheer on the Eagles hockey team at Kelley Rink; during football season, head to Alumni Stadium. The basketball team plays at Conte Forum, while the baseball team calls Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at John Shea Field home. The Eagles have the nation's oldest fight song, written in 1885.
Boston College is located along Commonwealth Avenue, one of the prettiest streets in Boston. The area is very walkable and bicycle-friendly, and students can often be seen walking to class. Commonwealth Avenue is also lined with MBTA stations, and residents can hop on the T at the Boston College Station and quickly reach Downtown Boston. For easy access to campus and to the T, look for apartments along Commonwealth Avenue. Beacon Street is also a great location, along with Hammond Street, Middlesex Road, and Boylston Street.
