With rows of historic and colorful buildings lining wide sidewalks and jaunty awnings adorning locally-owned shops and cafes, there's good reason many new residents seek out Greenpoint. This trendy neighborhood is located in northern Brooklyn, and it really does have something for everyone: it is filled with artists, it is the go-to place for the finest restaurants and bars around, and it has some of the best public schools in New York. The neighborhood is so photogenic it was even used as the setting for HBO's hit series, Girls. It provides terrific parks, such as McCarren Park, which is home to the Greenpoint McCarren Park Greenmarket -- a year-round farmer's market. Msgr. McGolrick Park is home to a historic pavilion, a playground, picnic areas, and several monuments.
Go walking along Manhattan Avenue, Greenpoint's busy shopping district, and you'll discover why so many are moving to this once-hidden location. If you want to be one of those new Greenpoint residents, apartments are plentiful -- but they can be quite pricey. Greenpoint is wrapped by water, with the East River on the east side and Newtown Creek wrapping around the north and west. Being directly across the river from Manhattan's Gramercy Park and East Village, the views of the city skyline are spectacular. The neighborhood has access to the subway at Graham Avenue as well as to the Greenpoint Ferry for trips into the city. Greenpoint is also bicycle-friendly with Citi Bike bicycle sharing stations available.
As of May 2025, the average apartment rent in Greenpoint is $3,513 for a studio, $4,416 for one bedroom, $6,050 for two bedrooms, and $7,573 for three bedrooms. Apartment rent in Greenpoint has increased by 4.4% in the past year.
