Following Beaverdam Creek northwest from North Asheville Community, Beaverdam is a heavily wooded and somewhat rural neighborhood with scenic mountain views. Beaverdam isn't as remote as its wooded appearance might make it seem -- it is close to the Country Club of Asheville, the University of North Carolina Asheville, and Beaver Lake. Residents enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, from golfing at the local courses to boating on nearby lakes.

Take a drive along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway to the Pisgah National Forest to go hiking, camping, and mountain biking. Asheville's most famous destination, the Biltmore Estate, is only about six miles southwest of Beaverdam. Beaverdam is roughly three miles northeast of Downtown Asheville, offering residents a commute of about 10 minutes. While the neighborhood is mainly residential, shops and restaurants are readily available along Merrimon Avenue.
