The city of Alvin is a suburban community located about thirty miles south of Downtown Houston and thirty miles northwest of Galveston. The unique central location allows residents to easily access to nearby urban amenities as well as the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, each just a few minutes’ drive away. Alvin holds a distinct place in baseball history as the longtime home of legendary pitcher Nolan Ryan, and a local museum is dedicated to the Hall of Famer.

Primarily a residential suburb, Alvin’s shopping and dining options are spread out across the community, with locally-owned favorites like Caboose BBQ and Alvin Seafood and Grill within walking distance for many. Alvin Community College on the south side serves around 5,000 students, and employs many locals as faculty and staff members.
