Updates made to the property so far have been nice. New paint looks much better than the old colors and the gate/door access through an app is much more reliable. Gym needs some attention. Regular cleaning schedule would be a smart move along with checking the a/c.

For me, I’m going to say location location!! I am in a 5 mile radius of work, shopping, dinner, night out of great entertainment, and the parks love the downtown area. that pretty much sums up Downtown Plano living. Been a residence here for 7 years & counting. I call it my little paradise. But everyone knows living in multifamily. It has its ups and downs as what you like the most the neighborhood is quiet. I would say it’s more of an adult environment. Being around downtown bars and restaurants, but there are Little ones running around we’ll get to see some new move-in during the spring. Currently, we have new owners now. Owners have come and gone. Hopefully The new owner stay around a lot longer then 2 years. I understand the business, People please realize this is My Home and I take great pride of living in a quiet, nice community and enjoying it. I feel secured in being here hopefully for a long time.

It's only been a month under new building management but there have already been noticeable changes for the better. Handicap accessibility issues have been fixed, valet trash runs timely, and maintenance issues are addressed much more quickly. There's still a lot of issues that need to be worked on but I have no doubt that they will be addressed and remedied as well.

The staff at the apartments have all been wonderful to work with. Construction can be a pain to live around, and there have definitely been issues getting maintenance problems solved quickly, but the location more than makes up for the negatives. Be aware that only one building has an elevator, and this makes the second building inaccessible if you get injured.

Trash procederes make floors,halls, and parking looks trashy. I lot bug flies and smells. To have visitors parking limited is not convenient anymore. We pay for delivery room that I never used. Apartments has ok lot a cracks walls.

Avoid at all costs

“Secure” doors are never secured, lock systems don’t work, or other tenants block the doors open with rocks. The vagrants are found sleeping in the hallways and under the stairs, especially when it’s cold. The people that hang around the train platform are loud at all hours of the night. Management does not respond for days at a time if at all unless you leave a negative review online, then they are quick to apologize but still never fix the issue of the complaint. The package room is a joke and the parking situation here is horrible. Now the units…worn out and tired would be a compliment. Stove and oven that works intermittently, a Freon leak in the a/c, but instead of fixing, they tell us they will come back in a couple of months and add more freon. Countertops are painted…yes painted, all of them. I could go on, but do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

They will jack up their rates on you when you renew and tell you that it is part of your lease. Homeless people are everywhere asking for money or fighting at the train station or in the street. My cars have been hit numerous times and we have had emblems stolen off of both cars, threatening notes get left on cars if they are parked even slightly crooked. Management does not respond to requests to have things fixed in your apartment, pool is never cleaned, dog park smells like crap and no one picks up after themselves. I would say walk your pets outside the complex but then you risk homeless people constantly messing with you. You pay $30 a month for trash but you have to take it to the dumpster yourself where you will also not be able to even go in because there is so much trash piled up because they do not care for this place. There is a constant smell of pet diarrhea outside. Parking is a nightmare if you have a full sized car, be ready to find a spot on the 3rd or 4th floor and walk your way down to your apartment and hope you are not carrying anything. Paint will fall off the doors and walks because they used a cheap painter who did not even prime the materials. The washer and dryer set up is completely backwards. sink and toilet and bathtub are constantly messing up. Ac has gone out 4 times since moving in. place has been bought and sold more times than a bar. Noise is always insane. People are always at the pool drunk as could be blasting their music so loud you can not hear anything in your apartment. The "Dog Park" is a complete joke and the gate has been broken for now 8 months. Homeless people bath in the pool outside and management has been notified several times and they have never cleaned it. The amenities suck and the gym is basically a small bedroom they turned into a gym and if 3 people are there you are not gonna be working out. They never answer their phone and then when you do get a hold of a complex it is usually the phase 2 building and they will tell you to call the other one. The walls are thin as could be and you can hear peoples televisions and arguments or them stomping around. The fire alarms CONSTANTLY GO OFF AND ARE AS LOUD AND EAR DRUM SHATTERING AS COULD BE. In the last 2 years they have gone off at least 40 times. There is more but I would just say avoid this place at all costs

Problems can’t be fixed by the office staff

The issue here is not the staff, it’s the loud traffic, loud drunk people at 2:30 a.m. yelling, the homeless people sleeping in the hallways and under windows, the horrible parking. It just makes the place feel not worth the high rent. If you are a heavy sleeper and don’t wake up at the sound of any of the above factors, you may enjoy living here! But buyer be ware!

MY HOME OVER A DECADE!

Firstly, this new management company has made major improvements that the old company, pinnacle had never done. This wonderful company had replace the roofs, cables, paint, update the appliances & etc. They have a fabulous new maintenance crew; who actually works & fixes the problems. However, the old company did not do anything, so now this fabulous company is getting blame for the old company pinnacle who never fixed anything and they love to raise you rent yearly. But here!! Pretty god awful place, especially for the price.

I live at Eastside Village in Plano Texas phase 1 community. I have several complaints about this complex with the main one being broken gates and mold. Ever since I moved here about 70% of the gates to both the apartments and the separate garage complex have been broken. I have made various complaints to the complex (local as well as regional managers) with nothing being resolved. They have done patches on the gates that last maybe a week or two before being broken again. Recently my car was broken into while inside their 'gated' garage. There were two entrances into the private part of the garage that were broken (if they hadn't been would have required a badge to get into). I don't know if this would have prevented this, but the burglary occurred at 1 AM so it's likely they wouldn't have been able to get in by following someone in. I consider partially this Carter-Haston's fault for not having those gates fixed. There are several other complaints that I wish to air. 1. The building have mold. Specifically, the staircase next to the elevator is extremely bad. You can literally see the mold growing in the walls in some places where top layer has cracked off. 2. The single elevator the complex has is non-functional and hasn't been for 2 months. Before that it worked but hadn't been inspected for 2 years. 3. The apartments in general are rundown and if you take a closer look you can easily see this. Please take a close look at everything if you're looking and make sure they replace the carpets before you move in. 4. The local management office has very little power and no desire to do anything to improve the community. They do NOT do property walkovers to see if things are broken (such as the gates). 5. The internet is really bad. We are provided with ONE choice of AT&T DSL which maxes out at speed of about 5 megabits. This is not enough for two people let alone more. In addition, we pay in excess of $50 a month for the service. I saw in a previous review about this issue posted by someone else that management is not responsible for the internet service you choose. This would be the case if there were MULTIPLE services for us to choose from. However, there is only one very subpar service. The management could invest in running another service through the apartment complex if they wanted to, but they have no interest.

Not the best, but not too bad

First things first. The parking here is TERRIBLE. Absolutely terrible. All of the parking spots are way too narrow (I drive a compact car) and the people here park horribly. Your car will be dinged and scratched. I guarantee it. The apartments are not bad. They're clean and spacious--at least mine was. The trim and finishes are dated and weird (submarine lights) but the windows are big. The appliances were in acceptable condition though a bit old. The carpet was clean and the toilet/tub were immaculate. My biggest complaint is with the Internet and cable options. Specifically, that there are none. The only option here is 6Mbps DSL through AT&T. Yes, that is correct. DirecTV is the only television provider. I was told they were working on getting Time Warner Cable in the complex, but nothing has happened. Maybe the new management will follow through. All in all, this complex is the most economical way to live in a pretty cool neighborhood. You can't beat the access to historic downtown and the DART rail system. If that's all you care about, this is the place for you.

Good value, great location

Eastside Village 1 has been home for 2 yrs. It's really great to be located within a mile of both 75 and George Bush Tollway, plus the DART rail is literally right next door. Bonus, it's set in the cool historic downtown Plano district. The value is great: it's a good amount of space for the right price. The pools are nice, the design of the building is fun and slightly artsy. There are lots of trees on property too, and a small dog park. Some apartments come with a washer/dryer. There is plenty of parking in the garage too. There is some noise from the DART rail, but only in the eastern building of Eastside Village 1. The community is very friendly and safe, and there's always something fun going on in the nearby restaurants, Haggard Park, or art community. The property could be greatly improved by more active management: the hallways needs a good cleaning, the building door latches (not apartment doors) occasionally break, and the elevator stops functioning sometimes. The appliances are slightly older, and I hope they'll be replaced in the near future. The biggest challenge is the available internet: DSL from AT&T is no fun, and has persistent connectivity issues. Unfortunately no other service is available. I recommend this apartment community strongly, but gave it a 3-star rating because of the management issues. The office and staff is great, but some updates/ maintenance concerns are persistent and frustrating. This is a great place for younger people who are relaxed and like to have fun.
