Property Ratings at Lassen Apartments
The one & two star critic's ratings, which I wouldn't be surprised if they came from the same individual, misjudge the building's unit appearance and the working staff. Below are explanations for why some conditions MIGHT have been present: - roaches: once the building manager is made aware of these kind of situations, Terminix or other Professional insect elimination company is hired and kept until issue is resolved. It's completely normal for people who move out, especially after 10 years, to sometimes leave a mess behind, possible damages to the apartment, and/or food behind that attract roaches to enter apartment. - As for the "kitchen cabinets and cupboards are broken, cracked, misaligned", these are issues management corrects EVERY TIME BEFORE A MOVE IN. The "potential client" was certainly told the unit was still being worked on ahead of getting an idea of the layout of the unit - As for the unit not being "cleaned in awhile", is once again because the unit was not ready for move-in and staff were still working on restoring the unit from previous tenant: that's also why there was a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Moreover, cabinets, shelves, carpet, etc is damaged through normal WEAR & TEAR BUT is repaired/replaced by hired professional companies. Once again, management remains involved throughout the whole process. - As for the views, the choice is the tenants'. If they love the apartment and cooperation of the manager and most times, almost always do, that's why they rent the unit for many years. - As for furniture in the PUBLIC ALLEY by the trash, the sanitation services department is notified/scheduled when needed to remove the illegal dumpings on Tuesdays and THEY DO. Ownership of the items disposed of come from neighboring buildings and unknown sources, but the issue is corrected properly through the building manager's involvement to rectify these situations. The one & two star critic's ratings are not appropriate and serve a poor purpose of mislabeling the hard work and commitment of paid cleaning staffs/companies and maintenance employees/contractors
Please be aware of roaches and bugs in this building.
The landlord couldn't even be bothered to show us the unit, so we made a very thorough inspection ??. Pros: The living room is big and has hardwood floors. The apartment has a fresh new coat of paint. There's enough space for a dining room table next to the kitchen. Plenty of closet space. Water pressure was good and Wall A/C unit was working. Cons: Roaches!!! we saw one running around which hid in a hole inside the bathroom sink cabinet, and a couple of dead ones in the kitchen. The kitchen cabinets and cupboards are broken, cracked, misaligned. we tried to realigned them but the wood was cracked (whole unit should be replaced) The view is depressing, the living room window is facing the parking lot and houses, and the bedroom is facing an alley filed with trash and discarded furniture. The building hallways are carpeted and haven't been clean in quite a while. Overall the unit is what you'll basically find in the valley, but the fact that the manager couldn't even bother showing us the unit is very concerning for a potential tenant. Also, you get two assigned parking spaces but they're not gated and next to the alley with the discarded furniture.
