The Florida land boom in the 1920s drastically changed things by incorporating residential neighborhoods that remain today. The unfortunate natural disasters, including the 1926 Miami Hurricane and the 1947 Fort Lauderdale Hurricane, destroyed houses and businesses and devastated the area. Perseverance allowed the city to overcome these hard times. By 1950, the neighborhoods developed again and became magnificent vacation spots for travelers bringing in revenue to the city.

For those who do rely on public transportation, the Broward County Transit bus system runs several routes connecting Landings with neighboring areas. Call ahead for a cab if you need to reach a particular destination in a jiffy, or schedule a ride via Uber. When walking or biking, it's best to stick to paths that run through the area, as some streets do not accommodate pedestrians.
