Apartments.com Introduces AI-Powered Voice Search, First in Industry

Apartments.com has launched Smart Search, the first AI-powered voice search in the multifamily industry. The search tool allows renters to search using natural language instead of traditional keywords and filters.

“Smart Search speaks the same language that renters do,” said Stuart Richens, vice president of product for Apartments.com. “Renters can explain what they’re looking for in their own words and get the results that meet their needs.”

With Smart Search, renters can search using complex sentences in natural language. Preferences around price, location, amenities, and other features can be captured in a single query, eliminating the need to manually apply filters. The search tool supports both voice and written queries.

The launch reflects a broader shift toward conversational technology and AI-powered discovery within online search.

Smart Search is available across desktop and mobile devices. The search tool, which supports multiple languages, lets renters search near specific destinations and points of interest.
