One of Derry’s claims to fame is that the American poet Robert Frost lived here and worked a poultry farm, before he was famous. He never achieved fame while in Derry and left for England where he had almost immediate success. Much of his early work was in fact written on the farm in Derry.

Today, the farm where Frost wrote is a National Historic Landmark and a New Hampshire State Park. The Robert Frost Farm is a cultural attraction in Derry, attracting writers and poets from all over the world for lectures and readings. There are tours of the farm from spring through fall.

Another attraction in Derry that has made a name for itself in recent years is the Stockbridge Theater. The theater is located at Pinkerton Academy, which is itself a landmark. Pinkerton has been the local high school since 1815 and is now a regional school. The theater puts on professional productions and is a great local night out.

Derry is an active community and the Derry Parks and Recreation plays a role in giving the citizens plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
