Cortland Mount Vernon

They just change the company and is a disaster. Cortland is not working at all. There is no contact person! They have stolen my groceries twice and the building does nothing. Some packages as well.

I love living here! It's been our second year since moving and I wouldn't trade it for anything. This area is full of restaurants, coffee shops, and bars, as well as only a 10 to 15 minute walk to the metro.

We’ve enjoyed living here, going on 3 years now. The staff are friendly, maintenance requests are filled within 24 hours and the amenities are well-kept. The location is in the heart of Mt. Vernon Triangle - close to tons of cafes and restaurants , metro, bus, and groceries.

I’ve enjoyed my time at Yale West! I love my unit and the amenities. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect.

Great building! When you bundle price, amenities, staff and location in DC you get Yale West. We enjoy this wonderful community everyday, meeting interesting people, chatting with the property team, going to the gym or just working from the lounge. Highly recommended!

We just hit our two year anniversary of living at Yale West and it's been an incredible experience thus far! We look forward to living at Yale West for years to come.

I have thoroughly enjoyed living here with only small things to complain about which is nothing compared to previous homes that I have lived in in Washington DC.

Responsive maintenance, on site gym, dog park, packages received reliably tracked at the front desk, guest parking is a huge plus and it is cheap for a one night parking pass for a guest. Guest suite on site, can rent lounge space on first floor, and close to Safeway and two metro stops: gallery place and mt Vernon.

I haven't moved in yet but thus far it's been super easy and convenient. I met with Mason on Tuesday he is top notch btw, very informative and everything he said would happen in the process has happened. I left mid week for Florida I received all the forms and instructions of what to do next via email. I called him with a few questions, all answerd with ease. I'm not just in Florida I waking around Epcot signing documents moving my mail, getting my wifi connected and router sent, electric turned on, renters insurance etc .. this was easier than ordering an upside down iced dirty chai latte with oat milk . Phenomenal!

BEWARE!!! Clause 26 "Access to Premises" grants Yale West management staff access to your home for ANY reason without your notice or consent and they are EXTREMELY irresponsible and negligent with this authority. My husband and I were on business in NY for a month and while we were away Yale West management took advantage of our absense and used our apartment as a "show" apartment for prospective tenants. My husband returned to the apartment early and discovered our curtain rod and curtains had been torn from the wall and our front door was unlocked! The next morning he woke up to three strangers in our home. Management was surprised to see him there, since they thought we were out of town, but continued to show the apartment while he was asleep in his underwear, which is bizarre and completely unprofessional. My husband approached management that morning to discuss the incidents and the manager who entered our home told him "she thought the doors locked automatically" and that she "didn't think we would be home, so didn't think it was a big deal." Signing away your rights to privacy in YOUR home becomes an issue when Yale West staff don't even have a working knowledge that the doors need to be locked by key. They denied any responsiblity for the damage to our belongings, invasion of our privacy, and placing all of our personal belongings at risk by failing to lock our door for an unknown amount of time. We are in the military and had to move to an overseas location only weeks after the incident. If I was not overseas and could have appeared in small claims court I would have sued! Find a different apartment, you'll be better off.

We moved into Yale West in August 2015 and we have loved every moment. The building is exception with a great fitness center, cute lounging pool on the roof, and a shaded patio area with grills and a new fire pit! The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, running things beyond smoothly. Rent is reasonable for downtown DC, and a steal for such a great location. Amazing food all around and a 24-hour grocery store across the street. As well as a Yellow/Green line and a Red Line station both within easy walking distance. The apartment itself is better than we could have asked for. Spacious and open. More cabinets in the kitchen than we know what to do with. High functioning appliances and beautiful big windows. This is the first space my partner and I have rented together and if we never have to move we'd be happy as clams! I cannot recommend this building and the amazing staff enough. We are loving Yale West as our wonderful new home. :D

I recently moved from the Logan Circle neighborhood to Yale West in the Mount Vernon Triangle area. As Logan Circle costs continued to rise, I was forced to look at different alternatives despite being very happy with my current location. Yale West has been a godsend for me. The rent was more affordable and more in line with market rates rather than trying to take advantage of the consumer. Additionally the amenities offered in this building far exceeded my previous resident. I’ve probably lived 7 residences in the last 10 years and this is the first place I would say really feels like a home. The management team here helps make Yale West truly feel like a community. Whether it local food events, cocktail gatherings or letting us try out new startup business products they plan a plethora of events. The building is only 3 years old so my actual apartment itself feels like I moved into a brand new condo. They have a great indoor parking garage where parking is never an issue. The common areas are impressive as well. The have a sizable gym experience, good enough to actually get me to workout at home which was rarely the case at past residences. Additionally with sizable storage areas for rent it makes living in a studio much more doable. If you want to host some friends and need extra space they have a lounge area/party room available for use. They just re-did the courtyard area in the back which is a nice escape as well as a great place to grill food at night. The rooftop pool is also a lovely final touch. While not the biggest pool I’ve seen at other buildings, I enjoy the fact that it’s not an overcrowded party pool and serves more of a relaxing getaway on a hot summer day. Finally, from the management team to the concierge and maintenance team, this building is run very professionally which gives me greater peace of mind knowing that whatever issue comes up it will be handled in a timely and professional manner. Who knew that all this time my home was just 1 mile from where I was previously living…

The Yale West Building in DC is a great apartment building. Combined with the former Yale Steam Laundry building it's got a unique look and style. The Mt. Vernon neighborhood is centrally located with quick access to Shaw, 14th street, and Chinatown. The Nationals Park, Dupont Circle, and Arlington are just quick rides on the Metro. The Building is managed by Buzzuto, and they've just installed new grills and patio furniture. The rooftop pool is great for when friends stop by on a warm sunny day. Look out at the DC skyline in style.
