The community of Chatham (officially known as Chatham Borough) is an upscale suburb positioned fifteen miles west of Newark and about thirty miles from Manhattan. Primarily a residential community, the downtown district around the corner of Main and Passaic features a cluster of charming storefronts housing locally-owned shops, restaurants, and other small businesses in a walkable layout. Just east of town, the Mall at Short Hills is one of the region’s most popular shopping centers, with the Canoe Brook Country Club right next door.
Several large parks and nature preserves can be found both in town and nearby, including the spectacular South Mountain Reservation and Watching Reservation. The terrific local schools and low crime rate make the borough quite popular with folks raising families, and the easy access to NJ Transit rail service as well as the Expressway makes it a great option for commuters.

Don't come here. Roaches, no heat, dirty and they'll increase the rent and you can't get out of the contract.
Maintenance takes forever and believe you're going to have to call. Dirty buildings. Bug issue. No heat. Pipes burst during renovation. Renovation is poor. Management yells at you. Management is working against you even though they are not fullfiling their end Rent went up and couldn't get out of contract.
A disgusting establishment that does not enforce basic cleaning on its residents. Infested with roaches and unclean.
Leasing staff was easy to work with and answered all my questions. Nice quiet community with friendly neighbors!
I have lived in these apartments few years, As the year passed by things got louder, nosier, expensive and bad managed. Winter heat was not working, summer air condition was not functioning, Pipes must be years old that toilet was getting clogged regularly. Smell of dump and humidity was so bad I had black bacteria growing on my windows. Management was so ignored and unprofessional, issues was never taken care of while I living there. Worst place I have ever lived. So no thank you.
My family moved into Chatham on Main in June and it has been a pleasant experience. Our newly renovated apartment was clean upon arrival. The management office staff is helpful. They respond in a timely fashion with solutions. I would recommend.
Location is ideal, convenient to both Madison and Chatham downtowns. Our apartment was clean and freshly renovated with all new fixtures and appliances; work is ongoing to update the buildings and grounds. Walls a little thin, but our neighbors were not unreasonably noisy. Alex is a pleasant and professional manager who responded promptly and thoroughly to our questions and made the leasing process quick and easy.
Nice apartment. Maint requests not fulfilled promptly. Rent is high. But a nice place to live.
