Property Ratings at Captains Hill
This garden style building is clean, well-maintained and cozy, but given the amenities offered by The Myerton, a luxury apartment complex around the corner that has a w/d in each unit, granite countertops and a gym, this building cannot command the same asking price of $1310 and up. This apartment building is a 2-story walk-up with less than a dozen units and has beautiful landscaping. Almost every day you will see a cotton-tail bunny hop through the yard! The neighborhood has several nearby bus stops that run to Clarendon except on Sundays which could be a pain for those who don't want to or can't drive. The apartments are small one bedrooms with well-polished hardwood floors with tile in the bathroom and kitchen. The countertops aren't granite but adequate, and the appliances like the fridge and the range are out of date but still function at the moment. Landlords will respond within 48 hours or so though it may take a week for them to actually fix your issue. Slight problem would be that there is only one washer and dryer on the ground floor for all to use so waiting for your neighbor to finish their wash on a Sunday will have you reliving your college days of waiting for a free machine in the dorm's laundry room. But the biggest problem a resident may have is with the poor sound proofing between the apartments where you can hear your neighbor pushing out of their kitchen chair in the next door or the cell phone of the neighbor upstairs vibrating on their night stand. A movie night by your neighbor can be heard through the floor--laughter and television volume included. Monday morning may start with the pounding of your neighbors high heels across the floor... One of the few perks is that there is parking out back of the building. If you need to live in Arlington and don't mind the price and other issues, this is a nice, cozy choice.
