Originally a mining settlement in 1858, Auraria is Denver’s oldest community. Today, the area houses luxury flats with skyline views, mid-rise apartments, and student housing. Auraria is best known for being home to the Auraria Higher Education Center, a 150-acre campus shared by three institutions of high learning: Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and University of Colorado Denver.
Located in the heart of downtown Denver, the neighborhood is lively with amenities at every turn. There are several parks in the and around the neighborhood including the beautiful waterfront Centennial Gardens. Residents have quick access to thriving restaurants, breweries, theaters, galleries, shopping centers and more living in Auraria. During the warmer months, you can find locals screaming at the top of their lungs on death-defying roller coasters at Elitch Gardens.
