Property Ratings at American Heritage Apartments
I guess all the other reviews were from long ago because the accuracy of the reviews in the past do not match in the present. Do not live here unless you don’t care about your own safety. There are drugs that flow in and out of this building. There was a SHOOTING here not too long ago (blood on lobby floor and all throughout elevator that wasn’t cleaned up by management for a whole day). There are no amenities other than a depressing gym in the basement that has workout machines from the 90s. Management has changed a lot over the past year of me living here and it’s just so unorganized. Overall very disappointing. Will not be renewing obviously.
The only amenity that this apartment building offers for myself is a 7 minute walk to MCV. The older positive reviews must be from when they were operated by a different management company. I have been very disappointed by this management as it's kind of been all over the place since I've moved in August 2021. Since then, the management has changed twice (says a lot already). The apartment wasn't even ready on the day of move in. They were literally renovating my apartment as I was moving in. They were really low on staff and only had 1 guy working for 50+ apartments (still does). There is no parking that they offer. Be prepared to spend $100-$180 more a month to park your car 3+ blocks away from the apartment. There is also a 7-11 right below the building which is although convenient, it does attract homeless/beggars very often. Although tenants have complained about this, they haven't done anything about it. It's an old building. There is only one working elevator (that has broken down many times leaving people that live on the top floors to walk 8+ flights of stairs). Overall a disappointing experience. Although the proximity to MCV is helpful, I probably won't be renewing.
American heritage is a quiet building. Parking is not the greatest but the location is awesome. Walking distance from a lot of restaurants and bars. Not far at all from VCU and state Capitol.
