True to its name, Sixteen Acre is a large neighborhood filled with green spaces. The neighborhood covers over 4,500 acres with lakes and ponds while certain areas are sanctioned for conservancy of several species of trees. Sixteen Acres is home to multiple parks and the Veterans Memorial Golf Course, but there are also parks surrounding the neighborhood like Five Mile Pond Park, which has a small beach. Western New England University is also located in the neighborhood, giving it a bit of a college town feel. This wooded neighborhood has rental options for every budget and a variety of apartments and houses available for rent. Sixteen Acres has several retail plazas with restaurants, grocers, and big-box stores. The neighborhood is also located directly south of Eastfield Mall. Although this sprawling neighborhood is quiet, Sixteen Acres is only six miles away from Downtown Springfield.
