About This Property

Gorgeous classic camelback-double located in a quiet, safe area of Uptown, 1/2 block from Magazine Street on Jefferson Ave. The house is 1500 square feet on two floors. Upstairs there is a full bath and two separate bedrooms, hardwood floors, 12 foot ceilings, and a large modern walk-in closet. Each floor has a separately controlled central AC/Heat system. Downstairs has the kitchen (dishwasher, gas oven), half-bath, laundry closet, dining room, and living room. The beautiful apartment features fenced yard, beautifully preserved original woodwork and windows, twelve-foot ceilings, original hardwood floors, pocket doors, three coal fireplaces, caste iron front fence, working windows and screens, and even mostly original hardware from 1903. This house has been lovingly cared for the last 120 years and it shows. Cats allowed if they are well mannered, dogs will be considered on a case by cas basis. The house is a short walk to Whole Foods, Winn Dixie, Walgreens, and all the cafes, restaurants, and shops of Magazine Street. It's only four doors from the Magazine Street bus stop, a short walk to St. Charles Streetcar line, and 10 blocks to Audubon Park. This is a great Mardi Gras house, located at the beginning of traditional Jefferson uptown parade routes which normally include Muses, Krewe D'Etat, Carrollton, and many others. If we go back to the old routes you can watch the parades from your porch. The house is located on the uptown side of the street, so car access is not cut off for parades even when they are staged on our street.
