Aliso Viejo was incorporated on July 1, 2001, and stands as one of California's younger cities -- sitting less than 10 miles from the beach in the San Joaquin Hills of southern Orange County. The name translates from Spanish as "old alder tree," a nod to the alders that once lined Aliso Creek. Daily life here revolves around well-kept parks with sweeping mountain views, convenient shopping at Aliso Viejo Town Center, and a pace that leans relaxed and residential. The city borders Laguna Beach to the west and southwest, with Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel close by to the east and southeast.
There are a variety of apartment communities across Aliso Viejo. Modern mid-rises stand around courtyards to sprawling garden-style apartments that incorporate nature into the Spanish Colonial architecture. Some apartment communities include townhomes for rent, or there are communities that are soley rental townhomes.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
