Koreatown is a vibrant LA neighborhood fille with hidden gems, bars, eateries, and a collision of cultures. As the name suggests, the atmosphere in Koreatown is heavily influenced by Korean culture. The neighborhood is a favorite destination among foodies city-wide for its endless selection of authentic Korean restaurants, but the community has a much more diverse character than that: the broad range of cultural influences is exemplified in landmarks like the synagogue and contemporary art gallery of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, the Latin fusion cuisine of Roy Choi’s restaurants, and the popular German/Korean/Hawaiian tinged gastropub, Biergarten.
Although the area is a hot spot for LA residents’ day trips, Koreatown is known as one of the best places to live in LA. Most locals rent their homes and enjoy parks, coffee shops, and stores within walking distance of their apartments.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at 689 Catalina
Living at 689 Catalina has been a great experience. The building is well-maintained and feels secure, which is important to me. The unit is spacious and modern, with a well-equipped kitchen and updated appliances. I especially appreciate the quiet environment despite being in such a central location. It’s walking distance to so many restaurants, coffee shops, and the metro — everything you need is close by. The management team has also been responsive and easy to work with. Highly recommend if you’re looking for quality living in Ktown.
I’ve been living at 689 Catalina for a few months now and it’s been a great experience so far. The location is super convenient — right in the heart of Koreatown, close to restaurants, markets, and public transportation. The apartment itself is modern and clean, with in-unit laundry and great natural light. Maintenance is responsive, and maanagement has been friendly and helpful whenever I have questions. Overall, a solid choice if you're looking for a comfortable place in Ktown!
Do not lease this apartment. I am moving out AFTER TWO MONTHS living here. (1) Intermittent Hot Water Supply: The repeated lack of hot water for EIGHT DIFFERENT TIMES over the past two months significantly detracted from the basic living conditions expected and required by law. (2) Elevator Outages: Given my physical limitation and the fact that I am living on the seventh floor, the absence of a functioning elevator not only inconveniences but poses a substantial barrier to my daily living and safety. (3) Security Concerns: My package valued at approximately $1,000 was stolen within the Property. They are not providing available security footage highlight despite the police report being filed. The management requires you to pay TWO MONTHS RENT for early termination of the lease despite all the problems I stated above. DO NOT MOVE HERE. AVOID HERE AT ALL COSTS.
Bad management. Once you pay your deposit, they will not interact you or accommodate any request you make. Just not willing to help whatsoever. Please save yourself by moving elsewhere. Highly not recommend it!
