Woodbury, one of the fastest-growing communities in the Twin Cities region, is on the southeast side of St. Paul, roughly eight miles from downtown. I-94 borders the city on the north side, providing easy commutes into St. Paul and nearby Minneapolis. Woodbury is a city of lakes -- many larger ones featuring parks. Some of these include Carver Lake Park, Powers Lake Park, and Fox Run Park.
With its tree-filled neighborhoods and beautiful parks, it's easy to see why so many are choosing apartments in Woodbury. This city is also ideal for shoppers, with the vast outdoor plaza Tamarack Village providing brand-name stores and popular restaurants.
Woodbury was first settled in 1859, when it was named Red Rock (apparently after a scared stone painted by the Dakota chief Little Crow). Unfortunately, there was another Red Rock in the state, so the town was renamed in honor of Levi Woodbury -- the first Supreme Court Justice (from 1845-1851) to have attended law school.
