Located just east of Downtown Allentown, 1st Ward was originally known as Lehigh Ward when it was founded in 1852. The neighborhood still boasts a distinct sense of historic charm to this day with an array of brick buildings, converted warehouses, and an industrial vibe. The America on Wheels Museum is also located in 1st Ward, detailing the history of wheeled transportation right alongside the banks of the Lehigh River.
