Rated 4 out of 5?by Great place to stay I thought I'd write this review because throughout my apartment hunt last year I noticed that most people who write on these sites give really bad reviews. Anyhow, I've lived in the complex seven months now and my apartment-mates and I really like it here. The renovated units are particularly nice. The staff here is great; they are very kind and very responsive. That said, of course, things aren't perfect anywhere and here is no exception. The car garage gate security is pretty much a joke, and when they tried to change the system it was a totally botched attempt and they had to abandon the change. Still, don't rely on the negative reviews, check this place out for yourself. March 24, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5?by Great Complex Awful Staff The Standard on West Dallas has great appartment layouts and amenties and is in a good location. However, the front office and maintaince staff is the worst staff I have dealt with in my 8 years of living in apartments. A few of the issues I have had are listed below: 1. On my move in date I showed up with movers ready to move into my apartment only to find out the front office did not have the apartment ready. I had to wait around for 5 hours for them to quickly get my apartment ready for move-in knowing that washing machine and dryer would be coming at a later date since they were not prepared. 2. My apartment unit electricity went out in my unit only. I contacted maintaince since we nad no power to our apartment. Upon their quick look at my apartment they instructed me to call my power provider. I did this and had center point energy come out to ensure my meter was working correctly. The following day I follow-up with my apartment complex instructing them that Centerpoint energy verified their piece was working correctly. It has then 24 hrs without power, all they could guide me is that my apartment was only getting 1/2 the power i needed. I called centerpoint energy again and personally paid 200 dollars for them to come out to check my apartment complexes power. Thankfully the guy they sent out to the complex was extremely helpful and went well out of his job duties to help me wander the grounds of the complex to find the problem. (keep in mind the maintance and the front office were directing me to get outside support to fix their meter closets) Come to find out the meter cloest for my unit was broken. I went back to the front office to instruct them of the issue and that they needed to have an eletric person come out. So our maintance pays for an eletrician to come out. I would think they would have taken care of it from there but instead the electric guy comes to my apartment door. I have to walk him personally down to the eletric closet for the entire apartment and show him where my meter is ( safety note electric closets should be locked and not made avalible for resisdents to just walk in there as they please). My power gets fixed 62 hours later in which my apartment maintance nor front office staff were involved in helping resolve the issue. As part our apartment lease I should be provided with timely maintance that i do not have to do and figure out myself and pay additional money to get houstons energy provided to come out and finally all emergency items should be addressed and fixed within 24 (power qualifing as one of them) I understand the leasing professionals who sit at the front desk are new and still learning. However, the property manager was never there or made avaliable to discuss these issues after the fact. She is very MIA and doesn't want to deal with any of the complexs problems. I also have 3 other friends that live in this complex and have all experienced similar issues with the front office and maintance. Overall this is a great physical complex and good area. Just don't expect anything from any of the staff as i would fully agree with the other comments posted on here they would rather ignore the issue than talk to you. January 28, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5?by Seems to be turning a new leafh Contrary to the previous reviews, I don't find this place to be that awful. They have recently hired new staff, who have been nothing but pleasant and helpful to me, and the staff members who I felt were rude have left. They have also extended evening office hours to accommodate residents that work during the day. My complaints are regarding the location of my apartment within the complex - it's extremely far from the parking garage, and I can hear a lot of noise from the traffic on Dallas. November 23, 2013

Once the new management came in and jacked up rent while simultaneously reducing services (and customer service), I left as soon as my lease was up. I HIGHLY recommend you consider other options. Rated 1 out of 5?by Worst apartment staff ever, and they're proud of it This used to be a good complex: good location, clean apartments, and a nice area. It had all of the normal apartment complex problems in the area (crime, repair needs, etc.) but the office staff was always very helpful with any problems that arose. Now that AMLI sold the complex to Baron Properties, it's terrible. The office staff is literally trying to get people to cut their leases and move out early so that they can make renovations (aka cheap "polished" wooden flooring) and collect your deposit. That's their 100% focus, with no attention devoted towards leaseholder issues. Twice I've had to deal directly with management who either refuse to speak with you or just flat out insult you to your face. I say they are trying to make people move out as three separate times while picking up packages, the office staff made a point to talk to each other about how "stupid" or "slow" their tenants are while tenants are standing right there. Rated 1 out of 5?by Beware Like the most recent reviewers, I too am not a fan of Baron Properties, the new and current owner of the "AMLI Towne Square", now the "Standard on West Dallas". AMLI may be some faceless mega-corporation that treats everyone like number, but at least they did a reasonably good job at it. The property changed ownership/management in December 2012 and from that point on, the front office and management displayed a level of service ranging from unhelpful to criminally incompetent. Staff turnover in the front office seemed extremely high. A basic request might go unanswered only to be told a week later that "oh, you must have talked to some person that doesn't work here anymore..." Some of the problems may be attributable to the construction zone of a front office they have to work out of. In addition to remodeling units as tenants move out, the entire front office, gym, work center, etc. was gutted almost from day 1 after Baron came into the picture. I would imagine that managing an apartment complex AND major renovation is difficult, especially with what seemed like an understaffed front office. This leads to my next point. The "towne square" property and units were not what many would consider "nice" and certainly did not compare with the "luxury" units sprouting up all over town. The property is probably close to 20 years old and its age shows. It did however provide for a reasonably nice, budget-friendly alternative in an awesome location for those of us not willing to spend $300 a month on cheap granite, faux wood floors and stainless appliances, which is exactly what Baron is doing in their renovation - BEWARE that this is all lipstick on a pig. Management aside, my #1 complaint with the property itself would be the apparent shoddy construction of the place. You will literally hit the floor the first time you hear your neighbors through the walls and ceilings, because you will think the apartment is about to collapse. I am not referring to noise from parties (which can be occasional), but rather just plain old noise from someone walking around an apartment, doing normal stuff. I have lived in several complexes over the years and this one is by FAR the worst in this regard. Also, if you do decide to move here, make sure you pay close attention to where your unit is with respect to the parking garage because some units can be a very long walk to/from the garage. To sum everything up: poor management coupled with a deteriorating (but renovated!) property. There are plenty of newer, better alternatives out there leasing for the same amount. May 29, 2013
