New Paltz is a small suburban community located twelve miles west of Poughkeepsie between the Wallkill River and the New York State Thruway. The village is best known as the home of SUNY at New Paltz, a historic campus serving as the cultural and intellectual capital of the community. Around 8,000 students are enrolled at the university, which also employs many locals.
The village’s thriving Downtown shopping, dining, and entertainment district on the west side is packed with coffeehouses, unique restaurants, specialty shops, and nightlife hotspots catering to the student population as well as the community at large. The surrounding hills and forests provide beautiful scenery as well as incredible opportunities for outdoor recreation, particularly in the sprawling Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park.

Horrible maintenance. Lazy and rude. Raise rent every year with no additional amenities. Been without consistent hot water for the last 2 months
I’ve Lived here for almost 2 years (Never was late on rent) and it was all headaches. They raised my rent by 200$, The Apartment flooded 3 times even though I was told it was recently renovated and updated brand new. (Mind you I was never compensated for the trouble.) The management is disrespectful and rude. Not to mention they blame Tenants for issues they do not properly fix. Everyone I know that has left has either moved from an issue with the management or due to the lack of repairs. Sadly the only benefit to living here was being able to wait out the snow, rain and COVID . **P.S.A.** There is a severe MOLD and WATER issue for most of the bottom apartments. **
The size of the apartment is decent, rent is affordable. However the kitchen is awful you cannot open the fridge fully as it’s blocked by the stove, cracks are all over the walls, bathroom is small and grows mold even with a vent. The worst is the management and maintenance, they are disrespectful and coming to them with anything seems like a problem for them, to do their job! I’ve never felt so offended trying to talk to them. If you want easy living, this is not the place...still better than Southside
And the rent price is excellent for the location. Great school district. Great neighboorhood
avoid living here! the building is slanted and causes cracks on the walls, no noise reduction, you hear EVERYTHING! and the landlord will call you very early in the morning and harrass you over the phone numerous times for the littlest noise you made in a decent time of day.
