If you haven’t been to South Laurel yet, imagine a hilly, wooded community with attractive houses and peaceful roads. Together with its manicured lawns and shady sidewalks, you might think this is a suburban neighborhood. Well, sort of – it is, after all, only 18 miles from DC -- but there’s much more to South Laurel. For one, the Patuxent Research Refuge is its backyard.
The vast Patuxent Research Refuge covers nearly 13,000 acres of land. It was established in 1936 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to support wildlife research – the only one established for such a purpose. The refuge is ideal for birdwatching, hiking, and fishing. For those who prefer shopping to hiking, Baltimore Avenue is home to Towne Centre at Laurel, a large shopping plaza with a movie theater and several restaurants. Head into Downtown Laurel to visit the shops and restaurants along Main Street.

I been a resident here @ willow lake apartment homes since 2019 since I have lived here the only complaint I have is that there should be some type of cameras on the property or the buildings should have some type of key only access to the building(meaning the only way you get in the building is with a key or key card). Although there is a package hub on the property some packages are still being left at front doors and being stolen..

There is an adage that says “there’s never second time to make first impression, first impression goes a long way”. From my initial day of inquire, my decision to rent and unto yesterday (11/16/2024) when I received my key to my apartment I have being receiving that warm impression of welcome home from all the rental agents, more especially Adanna. Adanna is amazing, she is through all the rental process and tour us(me & my wife) around like a pro-tour-guide with readiness to answer all our questions in clarity which for me and my wife was amazingly beautiful, thanks to Adanna and everyone. As we just move in we anticipate and wish ourselves beautiful and blessed dwelling at Willow Lake.

For the past year the laundry facilities have been subpar in my building. I’ve put in multiple tickets with the vendor, spoke with property staff to no avail. For the last month the washers have been full of water. I have even tried washing clothes in other buildings just for their dryers to be subpar. I am at my wits end and have decided this will be my last lease renewal here unless something changes.

It's my first day as a Tenant here at Willow, all I can say is that the environment is clean and peaceful, the neighborhood is welcoming and nice. Although I believe all apartment should come with Stainless Steel appliances.

So far moving in has been a great experience. Staff was very informative and helpful. Neighbors have been welcoming and my kids love the playground. So far so good!
Most of the community activities start and end at times when I have to work. Try to incorporate times for people who work 7am-6pm. & maybe 1 parking pass for families to visit. But I love my home!

Everything is going ok. Office staff is pleasant. The end of yr pool party was nice. Much better job at keeping the grounds clean. Seems to be much quieter
Willow lake apartment is a very calm and well peaceful area. Community is always clean with no garbage lingering around, grasses always well groomed. No issue for me since I’ve been living here, staff is quick to answer any issues that arises if there is any and give clarification on things you probably need a better understanding of. Where my apartment is located on the complex my neighbors are friendly. Here is definitely a good area to be at especially with the stores in Laurel being so close you don’t have to worry about commute or driving too far.

Willow Lake is nice but I don't feel safe. Multiple car theft, a shooting in July 2024 and we have ask for security or cameras to see the crime and it can keep crime down. Willow will offer breakfast before security.

The residence has very friendly staff and is quiet exvept for the higheays noise. the grounds are always kept well maintained and clean. I like that we have a cleaner that takes care of the common area.

I want to go on record thanking the "Emergency Maintenance Staff" for their quick response to my AC problem on a Sunday morning. I woke up finding my home very hot, so I checked the AC and found out it was not providing cool air. At 06:30 am, I reported the problem and by 09:30 am, my AC unit (a bad motor part) was replaced and operational with cool air. This kind of quick response on a Sunday is why the staff at Willow Lakes is outstanding! Keep up the good work!

It has gotten better since the staffing is better… I have been here at Willow Lake Apartment Homes for five years now.. other than the property needing either cameras on the building/a private security guard patrol/key or card access to buildings(because of the rise in crime nowadays), I love it here. It’s a quiet neighborhood with access to a gym for me to work out and the lake is a plus

Over all, Willow Lakes is wonderful community. It is peaceful, and family friendly. Not a fan of paying for visitor parking. Laundry rooms are a hit or miss.

Love this community! The rental office is responsive and active. They are always planning fun activities which is rare to find. The property is kept clean and the price isn’t too bad for the area.

For the most part i don't have any complaints besides residence have very huge dogs pit bulls even and they are never on a leash I'm terrified of dogs.

I moved in today and there were roaches. Dead and alive smh. Very disappointing. I’m worried about unpacking because I don’t want them living in my stuff.

amazing staff. We need security patrol and wish the pool was accessible at least 3 to 4 days per week. Love the nature and friendly neighbors here as well

Apartment is very spacious and was very clean when we moved in. Ample parking and dumpster right out front. Only downside I can think of is that the community smells like weed all the time and the ceilings are pretty thin so you really hear the people above you.

The water bill is not equitable and fair since it is NOT billed by unit individually but as the complete building, even the laundry washer consumption. Roach problem. Noisy from the floor above and insufficient insulation on the floor/ceiling. Conversations can even be heard through adjacent unity walls. Neighbors smoke marijuana in front of the main door, and their units, and the smell spreads throughout. Parking rules are not struckly enforced, and there is not enough ADA parking.

Shawntay is the best! She loves her job and knows it thoroughly. Her customer service is superb and she cares about the residences and fulfilling their request. The last property was extremely nice too but Shawntay help make a community difference. The complex is quiet, clean, well manicured, and pest free. Also, maintenance responds to requests within 24-48 hours. I couldn’t see myself living in no other apartment in laurel.
