Situated a comfortable 19 miles northeast of Minneapolis, White Bear Lake is a serene lakeside suburbia. Though many residences reside on the water, there is plenty of public lakefront space at the community parks. Enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, and relaxing at White Bear Lake County Park or Matoska Park, and check out the public pet-friendly beach while you’re there.
While you’re by the lake, try local restaurants like Acqua, a hot spot Italian restaurant with an elegant setting and beautiful lakeside views. Multiple golf courses and country clubs take up residency in White Bear Lake, with a few more right outside of town. From new construction to classic complexes, there are various apartments for rent around the city.

Property Ratings at White Bear Terrace
1. Maintenance is a joke. Took weeks to get any maintenance response, and when they did show up, the fixes were completely ineffective. They replaced our window screens with ones that didn’t fit, leaving huge gaps we had to duct tape shut just to open the windows. The laundry situation? Awful. There’s not a laundry room on every floor—just one washer and one dryer per room, and they’re usually broken or constantly in use. The building’s intercom system never worked. Management admitted it was too expensive to fix and never replaced it. Instead, residents passed around a universal entry code that was never changed, so anyone could walk in. Not that it mattered—the locks were broken half the time anyway. 2. Flooding. Our unit flooded. Water came up through the floor. We lost half our furniture. Management refused to help, saying that’s what renters insurance is for. Insurance didn’t cover it because there was no structural damage from a storm. We came home after a weekend away to standing water. Their “solution”? Pull up the carpet padding and barely shampoo the carpet. It was crunchy forever. We had industrial dryers running 24/7 for a week—guess who paid that electric bill? Us. Mold? Absolutely. A leak from the unit above came through our bathroom ceiling fan. They “fixed” the leak but ignored the water damage. A month later, the paint was bubbling. More mold. 3. Security? Because the entry system didn’t work, random people wandered in all the time. We had squatters, solicitors, and strangers knocking on doors. 4. Bugs. Thanks to poor maintenance and lack of inspections, we had cockroaches and ants. They eventually got rid of the roaches, but the ants never left. They came out of the walls, onto the counters, and into every room. Pest control came every two weeks—still didn’t help. 5. If you love the smell of stale cigarettes and pot, you’ll feel right at home. The building reeked. 6. Cops were at the building regularly for domestic disputes. It never felt safe. 7. You can hear everything your neighbors do. I know it’s an apartment, but this was the worst noise insulation I’ve ever experienced.
Maintenance generally don’t respond right away, and I’ve had some negative experiences here.
Management does not do anything, and I’ve had to have my son do repairs in the past since no one responds to my maintenance requests.
Rent at your own risk. Unsafe, dirty, and staff doesn’t attend to any requests by tenants.
I gave this 1 star because 1- it gave me a place to live with my pets and 2- it’s somewhat cheaper. However, ROACH INFESTED! Plunketts had to come out 5 times in between December and April. When I moved out in May I saw more roaches. Also, stink bug infested! I noticed when I moved in there was brown glue looking stuff in all the cupboards- I didn’t know what it was and I just cleaned and moved on. Months later, the Plunketts guy told me that was roach killer. So there had been previous roach problems before I moved in. Response time from maintenance and the office manager was fine. But not worth it to have to throw all my furniture away because they refuse to evict the person whose apartment started the roach problem. The Plunketts guy said another apartment was infested but they weren’t reporting it. I do not recommend living here.
White bear terrace is a warm and friendly neighborhood very quiet clean environment
Jessica responded to my email and sent someone to check on the AC unit on the same day. Great stuff! Much appreciated.
My experience has been poor overall with White Bear Terrace: maintenance requests are still pending and unattended to even 8 months after submitting, all utilities are to be paid by the tenant, laundry card is a hassle by having to load with cash in the opposite building (no option to pay with card/coins), A/C does not reach all parts of the apartment, there is no outlet in many spaces (large walk in closet, balcony, and on top of it all BUGS. When I had first moved in, the apartment was not clean; (oven was dirty, walls were dirty, chalk left on doors from previous tenant, wood chipping off trim in multiple areas, etc. Pictures I had taken when viewing the apartment will be shown to management once move-out time comes.
Rude neighbors, smoking in the building, packaged stolen. Poor place to live.
Love the apartment complex, the location is exceptional, and the staff is wonderful!
Definitely exceeded my expectations for apartment living. Highly recommended.
Management check on us 2 to 3 times a week when we first moved in..... no privacy. When the garages were given new keys, I was locked out due to the fact that they locked the garage door before giving me the new key, causing me to be late for work, and the 48 hour parking rules are not convenient when someone wants to take a vacation.
When I first moved in, I had management coming in 2 to 3 times per week to check on us, & when a new key system was installed in the garages, they locked my garage door before giving me a key causing me to be late for work, & the 48 hour parking rules stating that our vehicles must be moved every 48 hours, or we will be towed. That's extremely hard to do when we are on vacation for a couple of weeks every September, & it takes maintenance awhile to respond.
White Bear Terrace has a good price point for what they offer. You are getting what you pay for by living here. Sound doesnt travel across apartments, so they are quiet. Parking can be poor, but there is typically street parking very close if necessary.
Management is responsive & attend any maintenance request on time.
Like living here.
Good location.
It's a very comfortable place to live. The only complaint I have is when they were redoing the garages, and when finished, locked my garage before giving me a key, thus making me late for work.
I heard a lot of bad things. But this place is awesome and the crew who maintenances is amazing. We love our home. And they accept big dogs! We want to get a German Shepard! Such an awesome place
Terrible management.
It's really close to my work, & stores. I love the location. I don't feel the staff is very friendly, and it would be nice it maintenance issues were resolved in a timely manner.
It takes a long time for maintenance to come out to get things fixed. I don't think we should have to wait months.
Its affordable and dogs are allowed otherwise not worth it
I love the location, & the apartment is real nice.
Peaceful apartment environment, friendly management who listens to any concerns you may have.
Mold on bathroom ceiling, slow draining tub even after 3 service repairs, parking isn't enforced so good luck finding a parking spot, the fresh smell of pot in the halls to help start your day. You are expected to pay your rent on time but hold your breathe waiting for your damage deposit even when you have it in writing everything is perfect. I honestly found myself happy to just be out
The office workers are very nice, unfortunately the maintenance is lacking. Constantly waiting 3 weeks for simple work orders to be done. Flooding in one room last year and took them and entire month to come fix it.
