Nestled near the mountains of the Sierra Nevada range, the outer West Reno neighborhoods lie about 10 minutes away from downtown Reno, offering incredible nature views as well as big city access. Families love the newer houses in Northwest Reno and the ample recreational opportunities available to them. Just a short drive from California and resorts such as Northstar, Outer West Reno allows locals to enjoy the slopes in the winter and hike at Keystone Canyon in the summer.
Parks, schools and shopping areas serve to make outer West Reno an ideal place to live for those looking to live near downtown but close to nature as well. Many residents who cherish the Nevada landscape and easy access to casinos, restaurants and bars make West Reno their new home.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Peak at Sky Mountain
Moved into the peaks at Sky Mountain with the understanding that the lease assures a, non-smoking apartment environment. Since moving into our apartment, we have been smoked out with cigarettes and marijuana smoke, non-stop every night into the early morning hours. Nothing done, security called with no results. Do not live here unless you're a smoker.
As a resident of 2 years, I have witnessed this property go downhill quickly since FPI management took ownership. The previous management/owners were great. With FPI, they have added multiple new charges/fees to raise rent without directly saying they are raising the rent. You are now mandated to pay for their internet service now even if you are using and paying for your own, valet garbage service and pet rent on top of the pet deposit. Our rent has increased over $200/month this year due to all these new mandated fees that are supposed to “improve our quality of living” here at Vista Ridge. It has not improved in the slightest and has dramatically decreased. On top of all this, there is absolutely no parking unless you get home from work at 2pm which most people do not. There’s also constant entries of each unit making it stressful, inconvenient and intrusive. The maintenance crew have left my apartment a mess with dust, dry wall shavings and footprints all over. The amenities they used to offer are also “under construction” for the past two years making them unusable. This complex does not care about the livelihood of its residents. We will not be renewing our lease.
I've been living at The Peak for the past year, and overall, it's been a great experience. The location is one of its best features--it's close to local shops, restaurants, and public transportation, which makes getting around a breeze. If you don't have a car, there's easy access to bus stops, and if you do, there's ample parking space, which is always a plus. The apartment itself is spacious and well-maintained. I have a three bedroom unit, and there's plenty of room for everything I need. The layout is open, with a comfortable living room and a kitchen that's surprisingly big for an apartment. I also really appreciate the natural light that floods in from the large windows, which make the space feel even bigger. The appliances are modern, and I haven't had any issues with maintenance so far. When I did need a couple of things fixed, the maintenance team responded quickly and were very friendly. The building is generally quiet, and the neighbors are respectful. I haven't had many problems with noise, and I feel safe walking around the complex at any time of day or night. The grounds are clean and well-kept, and there's even a small gym and pool that I've used a few times--great amenities if you want to stay active without leaving home. Overall, I've really enjoyed my time at The Peak. It's a comfortable, safe, and convenient place to live, with responsive management and solid amenities. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place in the area.
They take your $100 hold even if you still want to rent here & need to change your move in date!! So if life happens, don’t bother because they’re inconsiderate. Stay away from Vista Ridge!
I am a first time renter and I chose Vista Ridge Apartments as my first apartment. I have live here for about a week now and I can’t think of a single complaint. I live in a 1x1 apartment that has been updated. The renovations are absolutely beautiful. The complex is gated adding safety to all tenants. The complex grounds are well maintained and have a wonderful look. The view from my balcony is beautiful. There is a lot of storage space in each unit. I have had no issue with finding guest parking. The office staff is very friendly. The area is perfect. Right off of I-80 making commute easy. Every store and restaurant is within five minutes. Nestled into a suburban area making it a perfect home. I’ll likely post an update after I have lived here longer.
Great staff and great place to live! My apartment had a beautiful view of downtown, I will defiantly miss living here.
Vista ridge is a great place, the apartment itself is very spacious, with walking closet, washer dryer in each unit. The maintenance staff is very friendly and quick to respond to any issues. The office staff is very professional and help with any issues. This apartment complex is blocks away from Walmart and other shopping centers, easy access to the freeway.
Great living spaces master bedroom separated from other bedroom by living room and kitchen areas as well as in unit washer and dryer, with a balcony over looking the city of reno. spacious, clean apartment with beautiful views from every window. In quite neighborhood located near lots of shopping areas as well as outdoor activities, such as trails and parks. Also very pet friendly with access to multiple outdoor areas located with in the gated community of the apartments. Apartments that are nestled in North west reno conveniently next to 24 hr fitness. Vista ridge also includes swimming pool and year round spa, gym, bbq areas, recreational activities. Really great atmosphere as well as great staff the maintenance crew is amazing. Really loved calling this place home for the past year
Great apartment for student. Easy access to highways and close to stores. I lived there for a year and the only reason I moved out was because my roommate left, and I couldn't afford to stay there by myself. This place has nice up to date appliances. The pool is great and the landscaping is beautiful. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice. I've never had such a great experience with apartment staff. One of the few downsides is that the toilet and bathtub clogged a lot, but there was always someone there to fix in within 24 hours.
