Gastonia, located just west of Charlotte, combines historic charm with contemporary living. The city's rental market remains budget-friendly, with one-bedroom apartments averaging $1,183 per month and showing modest annual increases around 3%. Housing options span from renovated properties in downtown to newer communities in established neighborhoods like Forestbrook and Gardner Park. Outdoor recreation enthusiasts will find Crowders Mountain State Park's hiking trails and rock climbing areas just minutes away, while the Schiele Museum of Natural History offers educational exhibits and houses a planetarium.
Downtown Gastonia continues to grow, as local businesses occupy restored historic buildings throughout the district. The restored Loray Mill Historic District now serves as a mixed-use development with distinctive apartment homes. The city's economic stability is anchored by CaroMont Regional Medical Center, while the FUSE District adds entertainment venues to the downtown area.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Trenton Mill Lofts
My boyfriend and I went to visit this property together and Erin showed us multiple available units to choose from. She was super friendly and sincere while showing us around and was very knowledgeable. Would absolutely recommend this property based on the gorgeous units and the exceptionally pleasant office manager, Erin!
The two stars are for the ceiling to floor windows and bricks in my apartment that aren’t falling apart. I’ll keep this short and sweet. Trenton is offering a two month off special for a reason. I’ve been a resident from the very beginning. Half the people who were originally here are gone. They ran when they had the chance. I only stayed because I thought it was going to get better and the location is convenient for work. Let’s start with management. We currently have new management and ever since they took over it’s been a hot mess. Not consistent with office hours, can’t keep staff, answer to emails when they want, etc… Numerous people from their staff have quit on them. When they took over in the spring, we went for months without any events. This month is the first. They tried to sell us on a food truck that was there for the baseball game so it was convenient for them to serve us too. Management is only concerned about the owners. Us residents don’t matter to them is what I’ve been told. What a slap in the face. Let’s see upkeep in the building? If you like the look of unstable bricks and unmatched floors then go for it. How about the beer on tap us original residents were promised? Oh and the luxury coffee maker which has now been replaced with a single serve keurig machine that went months with no pods. They advertise they are a non smoking building but don’t let them fool you. When residents report of cig bud findings they won’t do anything about it and say they can’t hold anyone accountable and won’t. However they continue to advertise it in the building and send emails of threats of fines and evictions. They threaten other residents like myself of evictions for knocking on a neighbors door for a peace of mind after quiet hours without getting my side of the story. Man I can go on for days. If you choose to stay here you can’t say you weren’t warned.
With the amount each resident pays for rent along with utilities each month you would think our management would be better but it's not. They are absent and hard to reach. Only in office 2 days a week if thay if you are able to catch them. The coffee bar never has mugs or to go cups anymore and is always breaking. The community computer never works. Along with this its becoming mandatory for every to use the same interent and tv service no matter what and will still be charged for it on the next lease whether you use it or not. This is a hassle and will also slow down interest service for everyone in the community. This new property management does not take feedback we give them on things we are concerned about .
Great place to live. Nice, comfortable and quiet. Zero complaints.
