It's where Pocahontas was kidnapped in 1613 … and where George Washington lived as a child. Stafford, located along the Potomac River and including part of the Quantico Marine Corps Base, is located along I-95 about 40 miles southwest of Washington DC. Stafford, a large CDP with a population of about 4,400, is the county seat for Stafford County.
This fascinating town features several historic destinations, great shops and restaurants, and easy access to Quantico on its north end and historic Fredericksburg to the south. Accokeek Furnace Archeological Site is one of the area's historic sites, built around 1726. The Principio Company leased the land from George Washington's father, Augustine Washington.
Public Quarry at Government Island contains sandstone that was used to build the White House and the US Capitol building.

Property Ratings at The Residences at Potomac Crest
The leasing office ladies are super nice and helpful with me. Never had any problems. I absolutely love the apartments and the location. Feels safe being by the hospital, police station, and the courthouse. My only issue is the trash. There is only 1 dumpster for the entire neighborhood and it overflows all the time so there is constant trash all over the road…
The apartments are definitely nice but the ladies who run the leasing office aren’t the best. They give you no updates when it comes to the application unless you call them, assuming they even answer. And information they give out isn’t always accurate. Because the rent is pretty cheap for what you’re getting, there’s a lot of restrictions that come with it so be aware. I understand that it’s a new apartment so them being busy is to be expected, but if I were to move in and had to rely on them for certain things I’d be very hesitant.
I have been waiting for my application to get accepted and for the office to send me my paperwork for weeks now and they keep telling me they are going to do it and it never happens. I have politely called multiple times and they keep lying to me. The first impression is terrible. If I didn't already pay money for my application, I would have already picked another complex that actually cared about me.
I'm sure the property is in excellent condition being that it's brand new but I wouldn't know because I wasn't shown anything. So I was scheduled and confirmed THREE TIMES between last week and the morning of my appointment to view a unit. The person in the office was rude from the beginning. It was almost as if I was an interruption. The greeting "can I help you?" wasn't inviting at all but I let that slide. I explained that I had an appointment to tour Apts and was immediately told that she had nothing to show us because Apts were being inspected, which is fine, but then why confirm the morning of? I understand circumstances change but no communication at all is a Red flag. Next red flag: "do you still want to go over the application process?" I mean, I took time off work and drove 30 minutes out of my way... absolutely. I was handed a packet, advised of income restrictions and utilities. Went over policies and fees. ( They charge a fee to hold Apts that are empty and there's no wait list.)No one even knows the complex is open so what are we holding? Ok whatever. I would've bent on that one too but there was more that didn't sit right with me... The next thing that rubbed me the wrong way was I was told my adult dependant daughter would be considered a Co head of household opposed to a dependant. I don't mind anyone doing background/ criminal/ credit check on her or even paying for it but she's not a Co head in my house. She doesn't have a job. Doesn't make decisions for the rest of the household so yeah... no. I took the application with me but we will not be applying. Finally, She asked if I had any questions and provided a blank stare and that was literally it. The entire conversation was no more than 10 minutes. No apologies for inconvenience, or offer to schedule another tour or anything. Just a stare as if to say, ok you can leave now. So we left. I will not be applying and it's a shame. To advertise affordable housing and then treat people like they are less than when they come to apply is not cool. And just based off that interaction alone I'm completely turned off.
This property is fairly new and that is why there are no reviews up... I went toured this complex the other day and submitted my application. The apartment is updated, modern, and very minimal. I love that it is in a quiet area of Stafford. If you're willing to pay a couple extra hundred dollars for the space and location, do it!!!
