Living in Old Southwest Reno takes residents back to the early days of the Nevada city, back when pioneers roamed the streets and built homes any way they desired. Locals love the Old Southwest area for its status as one of the oldest neighborhoods in Reno. Close to downtown Reno and to restaurants, bars and schools, many Reno residents consider the area one of the most desirable parts of town.
Unlike the newer developments, Old Southwest homes resemble homes from the past, in many different styles. People can walk down the block and see both a mansion and a cottage on the same street. The uniqueness and old-fashioned nature of Old Southwest and its outer streets pique the interest of those who travel to Reno looking for a family neighborhood close to all of Reno’s attractions.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Park at Idlewild
I am a current resident on my fourth month at this complex. honestly, this complex is a fantastic place to live; short and/or long term. The staff is incredibly helpful, actively responsive and positive; plus nice!! The complex is routinely maintained and feels clean, safe and welcoming. You have all the accommodations; from your own parking space to multiple extra parking spots, a laundry facility (if you don’t have a W/D in unit, close to a beautifully park and the truckee river, shops, etc. The apartment unit we live in was newly renovated, clean and all rooms, doors, appliances, etc. i working order. Also, this complex holds complex community events every so often and has a instagram page with the latest news. I definitely recommend this place to all!!

The best properties i have visited after moving to Reno. Went to about 10 and wasn't to thrilled about this or that about any of them. Then i was directed to this property, and knew it was the one! Quiet neighbourhood, not even 5mins from the river. Then your about a 15 to 20 mins. walk from downtown. There us a busline on the 2 main streets. I'm not a fast-food person but it is available near by, grocery stores (2). Now some of the units have washer and dryer but some don't. But they do have on property facilities for that also. Schools are close by, also pet friendly. Great place to live!
