Urban amenities and suburban charm meet in East Central, a large neighborhood in the northern Salt Lake Valley. Although it lies just two miles east of Downtown Salt Lake City, East Central has a peaceful residential feeling reminiscent of a much smaller town. The northern section of the neighborhood, which sits adjacent to the University of Utah, attracts a sizable student population. The southern section, characterized by picturesque bungalows and turn-of-the-century houses, brings in many families.
No matter where you live in the neighborhood, East Central provides easy access to dining, shopping and entertainment. The famed ski resorts of Park City lie less than 30 minutes away, and the nearby Wasatch Mountains feature spectacular hiking trails. For people who want short commutes for work and play, East Central perfectly fits the bill.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The New Broadmoor
Great place if you're on a budget and need to be near downtown. Very close to Trax and many bus stops that go directly to key places like the University of Utah, City Creek, or Gateway. The property management is very responsive and friendly, one of the best parts about living here. Unit itself is great for what you're getting, no real complaints.
The new Broadmoor is a really cool place to live. There is a nice sense of community with a good mix of people living here. Having my own washer/dryer and my own parking are a huge plus. There are tons of restaurants around the neighborhood, a trax station and a little mini mart across the street. The apartments are very nice inside, central air/heat, new carpet and newer appliances. Rent is super affordable and the property manager Brandon is very on top of things, he is highly accessible and it's great to know that he is there when I need something. The new Broadmoor is a great place to live in SLC!
I have lived in the Broadmoor for about a year so I feel I have an interesting perspective on the realities of this location. First off, Rent is VERY reasonably priced for something close to downtown and the University. There are many food options in the area(4th south, downtown, bars and restaurants along 2nd and 3rd south, 9th and 9th, etc...). They recently renovated some of the units (possibly all of them, but I can't say for certain)-including my own- and they look very good for the price. Nice carpeting and flooring, nicely painted and the kitchen is adequate with a decent amount of storage, lament countertops, and decent appliances. It is nothing fancy but has been perfect for what I need. Rooms are good size and easily fit a queen bed and my dresser. There is a big closet in each room as well. The bathroom is pretty standard with a shower/tub combo. Utilities are one of the few downsides to the Broadmoor. There is no central air given the age of the building and heating is done through steam heat radiators. I didn't think I ran the heat that much in the winter but the money did add up a bit more than I expected. Given the price for rent however, it isn't a huge deal. Reality is, with many older buildings in SLC this is probably standard fare. Each unit gets one reserved parking spot and if needed, there is always plenty of street parking available. The building manager, Derrick, does a good job and is consistently available if needed. The building looks awesome in my opinion, and provides plenty of charm. All in all, I think this is a great place to live as it combines, great location, great price, and well maintained living quarters.
