Westerville combines suburban comfort with historic character throughout its 12.6 square miles. Home to Otterbein University, this Columbus suburb features tree-lined streets and well-maintained parks. The rental market remains steady, with current average rents ranging from $1,007 for studios to $2,034 for three-bedroom homes. The historic Uptown district along State Street offers local shops and restaurants, while the Polaris area provides contemporary housing options.
Westerville's rich history shapes its present-day character. As the former headquarters of the Anti-Saloon League, the city earned the nickname "The Dry Capital of the World" during the Prohibition era. Today, the community offers diverse housing choices, from historic properties near Otterbein University to modern apartment communities in northern Westerville. Residents enjoy an extensive parks system with walking trails throughout the city.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Hideaway
Living in this complex has been an absolute joy! From the friendly office staff to the wonderful neighbors, we truly love it here. Everything has been so smooth and easy. The price is unbeatable, and the beautiful landscaping makes it feel like we're not even in the city. It's amazing! I'm so happy to call this place home. :)
The townhouse windows either lack screens or have damaged screens. In the basement, there's was a six-foot-long crack measuring two inches between the townhouse and the foundation. Small children under six plays in the parking lot with (bikes, skateboards, & etc.) often leaving objects in the parking lot. The washer's water valves in the basement leak when turned on, and the front door wouldn't stay closed without being locked. WAS IN TOWNHOUSE FOR 2 MONTHS & MANAGE HAD NOT CORRECTED ISSUES/CONCERNS. MOVED OUT AFTER 3 MONTHS. (PAID MOVE-OUT EARLY FEE'S).
Property Manager at The Hideaway, Responded To This Review
We are very sorry that we could not make you happy in what was your 2nd townhouse at The Hideaway. For over 9 years you were a valued resident of our community and we were always happy to accommodate you in any way possible, however, once you transferred to the new townhouse that you had selected months in advance, it seemed, despite multiple visits from maintenance and discussions by phone and email, that there was nothing we could do to make you happy. The maintenance issues you described in your comments were addressed during your short stay in the new townhouse. We had also informed you that all townhouses and apartments would be receiving new windows, screens, and patio doors in late winter or early spring. In fact, that huge property-wide project is currently underway. In the end, we were saddened when you left our community and wish you nothing but the best.
I’ve been here for 10 months now and I love it. They definitely keep up with landscaping and making sure everything looks great. Whenever I email them about maintenance, the response back same day and maintenance comes out either that same day (if you emails earlier) or the next day. They always leave note on everyone’s doors if they are doing something type of maintenance on all the apartments (like changing filters). When I moved in, they gave me a binder FULL of info that I still have. There is no assigned parking. I haven’t noticed any rodents, mold, damage or anything. This is my first place on my own and I love it. I would definitely recommend The Hideaway! :)
I have lived here for going on 4 years. I love the apartment and the location. However they do nothing to mitigate the smell of pot or tobacco between apartments, even with a diagnosis of asthma. So disappointed. Beware is you have tobacco allergies.
We had a great move in experience, sat down with the leasing office and went over a binder of information before being given keys. Upon move in the apartment was spotless. The kitchens are awesome with plenty of counter space and a big pantry. We are very happy with the recent remodel. We have been here about a month but have already recommended for some friends! Great quality apartment at a great rent.
I’ve been here for almost 90 days now and I love it here. Not sure about the mice comment below, I’ve never seen any. We do have skunks that roam late at night but we are hidden in the woods! The pool has been open and staff check the levels and it’s never crowded or uncomfortable. Maintenance is here a few times a week keeping up the grounds and they are lovely. I live in an updated model and the upgrades are all white and sleek. Don’t pass this place up!
Mice in the walls. Office and maintenance could care less.
Overall this was a nice apartment complex to live in Westerville. Some things were a bit outdated but the area was quiet and the leasing office and maintenance were usually helpful and nice. They have renovated some of the units which are more expensive but they have cheaper units for rent that are more outdated. My biggest complaint would be the traffic at times it can be tricky getting in and out of the complex. There is somewhat of a raccoon problem but it's a problem for the general area and it isn't their fault. Otherwise I never noticed mold, bugs, etc. I would highly recommend The Hideaway!
This apartment is the best!. It is like a hideaway in the woods in the middle of a city. Office personnel and maintenance guys are great. Roomy apartments, lots of closets, private patio. Birds are singing all day. Great area for taking a walk. Nice pool and lounge area. Price is the best around, and I have looked at many places. Best apartment I have lived in ever. B. Johnson, Westerville, OH
