Property Ratings at The Hawthorne Apartments
I am a resident of The Hawthorn Apartments in Mill Creek, WA and would like to express my dissatisfaction with community management. It is unacceptable and, I shall be looking for the legal support to address a gross mismanagement of the residents property as well as, this experience will be included in every media providing feedback and reviews of this community. I have moved from the unit CCxxx to the unit Axxx, January 25-27th, 2019. My move was due to health condition, looking to exclude additional stair climbing. Unit Axxx has experienced a leak and had new flooring in living area installed. There was prominent bubbling in a few areas. I have notified the leasing office. A vendor representative was scheduled for Friday afternoon (Feb 1st, 2019) there was no exact scheduling or time provided. As I have return to my home, there was the vendor with my home key in hand. This is NOT acceptable! There was no representative of the community present and no phone call made to notify me about the random stranger entering my home with the key! I have an alarm system always armed when I am not home and community management as well as leasing office are provided this specified code to enter. This was not mentioned to the vendor about to enter my home. If door was opened, there will be police visit in seconds and payment required for false alarm. I have repeatedly asked to keep this is mind, we have had an accident once already. I shall make sure, community is paying for neglecting behavior. It is not possible to understand the reason of giving this vendor my key as, without my presence, they would not find or be able to fix the issue. Therefore, why was the key provided to freely enter my home!? I have spoken on the phone with the agent, she has explained, she did not check if, there is an alarm system to my unit. There are few units to have security systems, she was not aware of this. She has indicated, she spoke to the service team and the team confirmed it is no problem to enter my home. No confirmation with me or a phone call to check in with me was provided. This is not acceptable treatment of the residents. I shall be highly recommending for the new residents not to move into this community due to disrespect of the privacy and mismanagement of the property. Highly hope, this will be addressed before the legal action is taken. Regards, Ingrid
Quiet, friendly, conveniently located, safe and the management staff along with the maintenance staff make sure when your unit repaired quickly when needed. . Parking in an issue unless you like parking on the street.
After working in the apartment industry for 6 years, I have to say I am exceptionally pleased with The Hawthorne! They are always on top of maintenance requests, the online resident portal makes paying rent very convenient, and the office staff is always friendly. They make you feel at home by knowing who you are, not just your unit number. Definitely would recommend living here!
I like living here because it's safe and I have a bigger place compared to living in the city. Although it's expensive, they still raise the rent often and offer few perks with re-signing a lease. I would prefer if all buildings were non smoking.
When the introductory rate that was offered to us was rescinded due to high occupancy and adjusted to the new "market rate" we should have stayed away. After almost a year of dealing with turnover in the management staff, zero enforcement of parking rules, and absolutely abysmal follow up from the new management/sales team it's time to decide whether to renew our lease and the process so far has been a renter's worst nightmare. An offer to renew was emailed to us and the only option offered was to renew for another year. So, we email the management team to ask for a month to month option because we are looking to purchase soon and we are informed that they do not offer month to month and we are then quoted a 6 month lease rate that's 15% higher than our current rate before pet rent or any other fees. When we asked to see our contract we were referred to their website but the links for the contract did not work. In general, the tenant website is terrible. At this point we're frustrated, but it gets worse. We come home to an offer letter that was put on our door from the management team saying that the month to month rate, which supposedly didn't exist, was $1,200 more a month than what we are currently paying! For the sake of comparison, before we moved to this apartment we managed a building in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood and the month to month rate was $150 higher than the year renewal rate. We emailed the community director to point out this disparity and she acknowledged that the rate was high, but that the community had reached its limit on leases shorter than 5 months. Obviously, through their pricing and reluctance to offer other options they want you to renew for a year or move out. Our experience with The Hawthorne Apartment Homes is that they have highly questionable practices and inconsistent pricing that in other counties are illegal.
