Situated in Rockingham County, Derry or “Spacetown” is home to history and modern comforts. Derry is the birthplace of astronaut and the first American to travel into space, Alan B. Shepherd Jr. – and the reason behind the city’s nickname. Poet Robert Frost’s house and farm is in Derry, which is now a historic landmark used for tours and poetry readings.
East Derry – or Upper Village – is the town’s historic district, housing the oldest building which was erected in 1769. When residents aren’t home relaxing in their apartment, they’re off seeing a comedy show at the Tupelo Music Hall, sipping ales at Rockingham Brewing Company, or wine tasting at the local vineyard.
Residents also get to enjoy a leisurely hike along the Rockingham Recreational Trail, tee time at Hoodkroft Country Club, or dinner at one of Derry’s many gourmet restaurants. Direct access to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and The Mall of New Hampshire gives peace of mind to residents.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at The Fairways
The Fairways in Derry is the epitome of why most people HATE renting for numerous reasons. The only highlight I have to say is the maintenance team is fantastic. Other than that here is a list of everything you have to look forward to renting at The Fairways Lack of accountability- while moving in, we specifically asked what the lease break fee was as we were planning to buy a house in the spring. The woman we were speaking to (the woman who had a corner office on the left who claimed to be the property manager) stated it was, 30 days notice plus 1.5x months lease break fee. When we gave our notice in the spring the actual property manager, Deb, stated it was 2 months plus the break fee as well as the other woman was the leasing manager and they've let her go because of numerous reports of her lying. Deb also refused to honor what the other "property manager" had stated in person because we did not have it in writing (of course we didn't because we spoke in person prior to signing and asked then). now we are out thousands extra as they refuse to do anything to make the situation right as it was their employee, their issue. here are a short list of the other things you have to look forward to if you choose to live here: Overflowing trash bins weekly No parking spaces during the winter due to spaces being full of snow as they only have one tow truck (located 20 mins each direction away) allocated to move cars that did not move during the snow storm (for over 1000 cars) Dangerous shingles falling off the roof during heavy wind. I'm amazed nobody has been seriously injured by this yet. filthy smelling buildings- at one point someone brought a bag of cat litter down the stairs and it ripped and dragged poop down 3 flights of stairs. took them 3 days to clean it up. Insane rent raises yearly- This year they raised rent over 20% on their building that were built in the 80's when they have brand new buildings a town over managed by the same company for only 200 dollars more. All and all I would HIGHLY ADVISE to stay far, far away from The Fairways Apartment in Derry.
Property Manager at The Fairways, Responded To This Review
I’m so sorry you had this experience. I’m the new property manager here, and I truly value hearing from residents and prospects. Since starting three weeks ago, I’ve been focused on making changes that will really improve daily life in our community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me anytime—I’d love the chance to listen and help. The feedback is appreciated. I’m in the office Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 5:30. All the best, Brian
Staff is always helpful with anything that is needed, property in the spring and summer are beautiful.
Property Manager at The Fairways, Responded To This Review
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us at The Fairways Apartments. We're happy we could meet your expectations!
There was a feeling of discomfort viewing this property at night around 9pm. Minimal street lights and missing sidewalks. Doesn’t feel safe.
Maintenance crew is amazing always right there and responsive immediately to request and questions. All 3 levels of schools are walkable for children. Plus the amenities.. wow! Been here 3 years and I love it
We love living here its a great community and close to everything
Great location, grounds team awesome with snow removal and summer planting. Maintenence team responsive, office always helpful and friendly.
My experience so far has been wonderful. The girls in the office have helped me when needed. Maintenance was here quickly when I saw an outlet problem. The girls who I met in clubhouse have been great!
As someone looking for my first apartment, I was blown away at the affordability of the Fairways in comparison to the quality of not only the apartment itself and all the amenities, but the community and location. I am very happy to begin building my life here at the Fairways and feel as though I have a positive space to grow, and call home. My fiance and I are very happy and lucky to be home here.
Ive heard a lot about The Fairways about why I should and shouldnt move here and honestly the kindness of the leasing team shined, the ease of the process was impeccable, and the convenience of living here (trash removal, car ports, etc.) have made this place feel like home in a short amount of time. Were happy we chose to live here for now.
The staff at the Fairways are very helpful and patient, they truly are there to help. Maintenance is always punctual and fixes whatever issues arise in the most timely manner.
Decent enough but nothing to brag about. Awesome apartments as far as layout and commodities but maybe not worth the cost during covid.
I love the community feeling of the Fairways! My son feels safe and everyone has been so friendly so far. The leasing office staff have always been a pleasure to work with and have timely responses. We moved in mid-November and couldnt be happier!
The staff community are all very nice and they try to be as accommodating as possible and so does the grounds people. Although the Old Apartments need updating & The Grounds Need Better Care!!
I enjoy living at the Fairways. I love the location; I'm close by to local treasures, library, restaurants, shopping, grocery, gas stations, walking trails, and beautiful scenic lake and farmland. My floor plan is lovely and spacious. The community is beautiful and full of very nice people. The amenities are amazing. I could go swimming outdoors or in an environmentally controlled space year round, workout with a lot of good gym equipment, hang out in the lounge area, with includes full kitchenette for entertainment, even pay some tennis at my leisure. The staff is wonderful and the maintenance has been efficient and kind. I am planning on referring a close friend to live here as her first place away from home.
Excellent place to live. Close to everything you need. Management is detail oriented and checks in with tenants. Amenities are great considering Covid protocols. The package delivery system is better than other places Ive lived at. I dont worry about packages getting stolen at all here.
Because of cigarette smoking being allowed in the buildings I would never recommend this place to anyone. In addition paying $90 a month for two dogs that are under 15 pounds apiece is crazy.
Things are usually quiet and neighbors are friendly. The staff is professional & pleasant.
The Fairways has always provided a balance between privacy and community. The lease and community standards are easy to understand and abide by. This place has become more than an apartment complex, it's home.
A friendly community with awesome amenities. Maintenance is prompt and puts the residents minds at ease. Neighbors are friendly.
Wishing things were better taken care of. Appearance at entrance of complex is beautiful, but buildings are not.
The Fairways gym and pool area is very nice. The gym is very clean and really nice equipment as well.
it's nice living here but they shouldn't allow dogs.
We love staying at the fairways the response time by any type of service request have always been timely and the staff is extremely friendly they do an outstanding job with the landscaping and it is well-maintained
I love it at the Fairways!!! The staff make you feel right at home. Theres so much to offer here and its wonderful.
Smells like mildew and cigarettes . Not anything like the online pics.
Im going on two years living at the fairways. Overall its been very good. The only criticism would have is aesthetics of the place outside of the apartment like hallways stairs especially outside stairs that can use some work but that is a very small issue especially compared to the quality of service and the politeness of the staff.
Overall, this is a great place for apartment living. Our neighbors overall seem to be friendly, the apartment is a great size and very homey, even the "far away" parking is not too bad, and the pets are welcome which is wonderful. Can't wait to be able to use the community amenities that are currently closed due to covid - it will increase our love of our home even more!
Our apartments is not updated at all. Old counter tops and coupards, which are coated with years of grease and neglect. Our toilet is so weak it cant even flush paper down it. The building entry keys are awful and you have to struggle to unlock the door which has the resistance like someone is holding it from opening,... all while you are juggling your groceries or children trying to gain access. Packages are constantly stolen by the neighbors who will travel from other buildings to pillage your goods after having followed Amazon trucks building to building. While you are trying to enjoy your evening, the local drug addicts/ dealer have customers overdosing in their bathrooms and have people buzzing the wrong appartment at all hours of the night. Some other drug addicts break into the building at night and then kick down appartment doors and police have to be called. Cars catch fire an exploded. Vehicles are stolen or vandalized. Save yourself some trouble and look at Derry's police log and search for fairway drive or derry way of any other street within the complex.
I've lived here for a few months, and every day I wish I had picked a different apartment complex. There is one restriction on smoking on the premises: you can't smoke in indoor public spaces. Hallways, clubhouse, etc. If you have a neighbor (or several neighbors) who chain-smoke in their apartments and balconies adjacent to yours, management will do absolutely nothing. There are several burns from cigarettes in my carpet (along with clumps of long black hair and broken glass). The kitchen and bathroom had clearly not been even wiped with a damp paper towel after the previous resident moved out. The stove and refrigerator were spotless, but the floors were gritty and sticky. The shower drain was gooey and hairy, with the artful added touch of mildew under the tub faucet. As I write this review, I am unwillingly listening to my chain-smoking neighbor's endless phone call from her balcony- 10 feet away from where I'm sitting in my bedroom! I eagerly await tonight's midnight entertainment: Neighborhood Youths Cursing Loudly in the Woods
If you're looking for a nice apartment, look no further than The Fairways in Derry, New Hampshire! The staff is very nice and attentive, the units are unique and cute, and the amenities are above average! The pools, jacuzzi, sauna, and gym make these apartments seem like you're living at a resort! Plus, it is close to great local restaurants and nature walks. I highly recommend living here!
Apartments are spacious. Grounds well kept and plenty of parking. Downside can smell smoke in hallways.
It's a good size apartment for two bedrooms, and the amenities are really great. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, a fitness center, and they offer lounging areas and have pizza nights each week sponsored by Papa Gino's. But what I think I like the best are the trees around the complex. There are great spaces for children to run around in and there's a small playground as well. It's well kept and a lovely place to live.
I have been living at The Fairways for about 3 years now, and I am moving in 3 weeks. I moved here to help out a friend who was getting a divorce so they could stay in the same school district for their children. Needles to say, we no longer speak. My girlfriend and I were left here with no option but to renew our lease. During my stay here, I have endured drug smelling noisy neighbors, dog debri that rarely ever gets picked up, and office management that barely returns your phone calls. Not to mention, the rent is OUTRAGEOUS. The one good thing is it includes heat and hot water, but that is pretty much it. Renter beware, the rent is no joke.
Safest place I have ever lived with friendly neighbors and low noise. Love the exercise room and 3 pools, can't believe how clean it is and how quick they fix things if needed. Love this place and will refer everyone I know!
The Fairways consist of a number of buildings scattered throughout the property. The apartments will very in how updated they are, so it is something to ask about if you are inquiring about a residence here and make sure that you are touring the apartment that you would actually be renting and not one similar to it. I personally had two tours, one in a similar unit, while mine was being prepped, and then the one I ended up renting. The grounds are kept fairly well, though there will be some areas that may have a surprise or two from people's dogs that fail to clean up after them. Though, overall I have not seen this as a major issue. If you are on the side of a building that looks towards the forest, as mine does, you will have a nice quiet area to relax when on your deck/patio. The apartments themselves are spacious enough for the needs of a couple or a small family with several options for floor plans. As I mentioned previously, the different apartments can be at varying degrees of update. This is mostly seen in the kitchen with some having older appliances, while others are newer. One issue that I saw right away was that the paint they put on the walls is very cheap. In fact, it will start to strip simply from furniture or items being placed against it. Also, sound proofing for the main entrance to the hallway is almost non-existent. If there is someone in the hall, you will more than likely know. Occasionally you can hear through the walls, but I personally have not had any major issues with that. There are some extras if you wish to take advantage of them. There are two pools, one indoor, one outdoor. There is a small community center with a single pool table that is not used very often so if you like to play pool, have at it. There are also a couple of tennis courts as well as a walking trail (which has a Dunkin Donuts at the end of it I might add). For an added fee, you can get covered parking with an assigned spot, you can have pets (both dogs and cats), and there is some added storage in the basement. Please contact the main office for exact pricing. Last area of note and may be a factor for some. At the end of your lease, when you are looking to renew, the cost of rent will go up. They give the reason of ever increasing cost of operating the facility. Its worth remembering, especially if you are looking for a place you are going to settle into for a few years. Overall, my experience at The Fairways has been positive.
Friendly staff, updated apartments, this complex is also very inexpensive especially compared to every other place around. Moreover, they are extremely pet friendly. Gym, pool, tennis courts, clubhouse are all top notch. Love living here.
I have lived here for 4 years with my children and we love it . The buildings are safe ,Quiet,on site laundry room and well kept as well as the grounds are well maintained. Heat and hot water is included as well as maintenance if something needs fixing they are prompt and friendly. They also welcome pets, there are great perks of outdoor pool and indoor pool, tennis courts and a gym all included and plenty of common area. We are close to several schools as well as many local restaraunts and shopping as well as a bike trail that leads all over town. This is the best place I have ever lived.
The Fairways here in Derry, NH offers so much for the money. Wonderful club house to include 2 pools, one out side and one heated pool inside. also a sauna, and exercise room. Several rooms to meet friends, have a nice lunch, or watch TV. WIFI available. The staff is very pleasant and always ready to help no matter what the reason or problem is. The maintenance staff is available 24/7. When a problem accurse they greet the residents with respect and always cleanse up after their job is complete. The grounds are beautiful and if you love trees, there is plenty here as well a walking trails and bike trails. Also Pet friendly. Come and see for yourself. Pam C, Derry NH
