Five Points South wraps around the University of Alabama at Birmingham with the UAB Campus Green sitting in the heart of the neighborhood. The south end of the neighborhood contains the Vulcan Park and Museum and the Vulcan Walking Trail, while the north end contains Railroad Park Foundation and Regions Field. Five Points South is a historic district that was founded in 1893. It is considered the city’s food hub and is home to top restaurants like Bottega and Highlands Bar and Grill – winner of the James Beard Award.

As Birmingham’s entertainment district, Five Points South provides more than historic architecture, great food, and an energetic student vibe. You’ll also discover a variety of shops, coffee houses, the Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts, and a variety of festivals and events. Five Points South is very walkable and students often walk to and from class. Be sure to stop by the Storyteller fountain, created by local artist Frank Fleming.
