NoMad — short for North of Madison Square Park — begins at its namesake park and extends to West 30th Street. This historic Manhattan neighborhood sits between Chelsea and Kips Bay, and contains nearly 100 buildings, many dating back to the late 19th century. By far the best service weve received from any management company we have dealt with in NYC previously. Weve been in the apartment for about a month and have nothing but good things to say. We love this building and our one bedroom apartment. Staff is exceptionally friendly and professional. The amenities are beautiful and well kept. The building does a great job to make sure we feel comfortable and at home. Apartment units are updated, with great appliances and lots of natural light (which we love!). My rental experience at The Capitol Chelsea is excellent. The management team is very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. They seem to know every tenant in the building, which is impressive. Front desk staff is equally friendly and effective. And any item that has needed maintenance or repair has been addressed quickly and with care. I looked at many buildings in my apartment search and none had the same positive energy and nice features that I see at The Capitol.

Miserable place to live
I have lived here for 2 years. This place keeps getting more and more disappointing. Between the loss of access to the room, gym and elevators, compounded with FISPs constant construction and noise, this place is just awful. The management feigns concern and interest but beyond their generic emails, they offer little to no reimbursement for the pain and frustration of living here. Unless you have no better options, DO NOT move here. Look at the recent reviews on any credible site. Everyone that lives here just wants out.

Do not move here! The entire building is currently undergoing massive construction and so far it seems that nothing will be completed on schedule. Elevators never work, we’ve been taking the stairs due to long wait times and lines of people stretching to the lobby. Management is constantly making excuses as to why the elevators don’t work. Additionally management is indifferent to all residents concerns about this ongoing, very disruptive construction. Furthermore we are paying for amenities that have not been available for almost a year. Rents are still sky high even though we are living in a noisy, dirty, eye sore of a construction zone. Please look elsewhere to rent in Chelsea.

It's a nice building with friendly representatives but is currently undergoing a lot of poorly managed construction. When all of the work is over I suspect the building will be extremely enjoyable again but until then I wouldn't necessarily advocate moving there.

Not a "luxury" building
I have had the following issues, which management has not taken adequate and prompt steps to address: -No hot water several times - not just on time and it's fixed, random times every few weeks -Heater not hot enough to warm my studio apartment -Dog barking incessantly across the hallway with no management intervention -Dogs running unleashed in the hallways despite it being against tenants' leases with little management intervention -Elevators that are often broken or get stuck -Gym A/C was broken during the summer and at $45 / month extra above rent, it was like pulling teeth to get a refund -Some kind of leak upstairs leaving a musty smell in my apartment that has been ignored -Rude, threatening letters from regional manager claiming none of the issues I've reported exist -Loud heaters -Loud sound of trash falling down the chute, and nearly half of the apartments are in close proximity to chute. It sounds like the ceiling will collapse, it is so loud ambient noise will not block -Neighbors are rude, esp the ones that have been here a long time and can't afford to move elsewhere -Building is old and dilapidated for what you pay
