Outer North Charleston sits at the center of the city of North Charleston and lies just under 13 miles to the northwest of nearby downtown Charleston. An easy 20-minute drive via Interstate 26 takes residents into downtown Charleston and its multitude of restaurants and bars. The Charleston Air Force Base resides at the center of the outer North Charleston neighborhood, and due to this proximity, many current and former military personnel make the neighborhood their home. I moved into The Burke in February 2023, leasing a one-bedroom apartment. When I moved in (sight unseen), I had a beautiful view of the pool from my 2nd floor balcony. I felt like I was living at a resort. 2.5 years later, my sister relocates from IL and moves into my newly acquired 3-bedroom, 1st floor apartment. I LOVE my apartment. Thanks to the wonderful Office and Maintenance Teams.

I love the apartment and having the amenities..... The leasing staff are quite accommodating and very nice.... I would recommend this apartment complex to friends or family but with me letting them know also about our experience below: The stairwell is extremely dirty, and needs to be pressure washed. It has alot of spiders and other insects and dirt everywhere. I was told they were trying to get it cleaned but have no water source for this building (7000). And there were wasps on my balcony on move day (we couldnt use balcony for 2 or 3 daysafter move in)and there were black widows and lots dead bugs in the garage. These locations were not cleaned out of garage for our move in day. I spoke to management, they tried to get this matter taken care of asap with the correct person for the job but it was never taken care of. So, my husband offered to clean the garage and kill the 4 wasps nests himself.... And so he did the job. Other than that, this is only my second week of living here, so I can't say if I would recommend in the future but as for now, I am excited and happy here at the Burke. (But please try to clean the stairwell)

I love my 3 bedroom apartment. My brother-in-law passed away 2 weeks ago, and my sister will be moving in with me (relocating from IL) in late August. Glad I made arrangements for a larger unit in December! The office and maintenance teams are responsive, professional, and efficient.

I was initially drawn to The Burke because of the floor plans and the location. From the moment I was able to walk into my unit, I felt like I was already at home. The neighborhood is quiet, and the staff and other residents are very friendly.

I moved to SC from IL site-unseen in mid-February 2023. I have never regretted my selection of The Burke. My apartment is just the right size for a person living on her own.The facility has several "events" each month to encourage and promote community living and have neighbors meet.

The repair work is very good. But pest control never works. Despite fighting cockroaches daily for over a year. They never go away permanently. They come daily from other parts of the building. This is really tiring. The entire building needs pest control.

absolutely atrocious, horrendous, smelly, the leasing agents are slack and new every other day. neighbors are foul, it's just a terrible place to live. there was a shooting there in 2021 and the way they approached the situation was disgusting. 10/10 don't recommend

I enjoy the amenities. Fun resident events, the pool, the gym, etc. My apartment is gorgeous! I love the dual sinks in my roomy bathroom, the granite countertops in the kitchen, and the all black appliances. My electric bill is manageable because the unit is very energy efficient. I love sipping a glass of wine on my quiet balcony. This is a lovely home.

So far my partner and I have been living at the Burke for a few weeks. We rented sight unseen, which was beyond scary. We are however super impressed with everything to date. The apartment is gorgeous, the grounds are clean, the amenities are lovely, and the staff are super friendly. The first time we attempted to cook in our new place, we noticed the garbage disposal was broken. We put in a maintenance request the next day, and the problem was fixed within 4 hours. The easy transition here and the timely maintenance work quickly earns this place a perfect rating.

Everything at the Burke is excellent. They keep the grounds up, the inside and outside very clean. But most of all the people is the office is very polite and helpful.
The Burke provides spacious floor plans, and a great overall community for young adults!

I witnessed a burglary at 9:30am the first morning I moved in. Then for my first two months, I had the Sheriff banging on my door because the previous tenant was separated/divorced and was breaking the visitation rights, so they were searching my apartment for a child. Someone got shot and killed in my building. My packages get stolen so frequently that I now have them mailed to a family members home. The halls and parking lots have dirty diapers, fast food packages, food, etc. thrown on the ground. This place is horrible and unsafe. I would highly discourage anyone from living here.

The Burke is a fairly new property in North Charleston. Property management often turns over and new managers don't always get good turnovers from the previous staff. Make sure you document everything to ensure what you were promised is what you receive. The noise from the train is terrible and actually shakes the entire building. I moved here from outside the area and was not made aware of the train crossing. Overall, the property is nice for now but the area is not very safe. Homeless people often loiter in the area and many times they sleep in the stairwell of my building. The Burke is a pet friendly place which is nice, BUT they do not enforce dangerous breed restrictions and leash policies. Be very careful walking on the common areas as dogs are often off leash and some are aggressive. I have been confronted by Pitt Bulls off the leash a couple of times and it is very scary! Be careful. Do your research thoroughly before leasing here at the Burke.
The Burke property is a wonderful place to live. It is very clean and a sight to behold. It has everything you need to make you comfortable. The staff greets you with a pleasant smile and always eager to help with anything. The neighbors is a pleasure to talk to you. But most of all I love it.

The location and outside are great but the management has been poor. Certain issues are not addressed properly and the communication is not the best. This place had great potential but they are on the second company with the same issues.
