Property Ratings at The Avenue at San Marcos Apartments
If I could rate give this apartment complex 0 STARS I would!! For starters I was a resident here for two years and the second year I was here was only because I couldn’t find a person to take over my lease, so had no choice but to stay. Towards the end of the first year of living here my apartment was broken into, luckily nothing was taken and may have been a drunken college student that realized he/she was in the wrong apartment, but managed to break our window screen and get passed our “locked” window (later we found out our windows never properly locked) regardless of what was broken or taken we decided to let the office know what was going on and that we were going to take action by filling a report, just incase something else would ever happen. In doing so we were advised from the previous MANAGER to not get the authorities involved and they would take care of the situation and have someone come out and check the windows. Not only was that a violation of our safety it was just not an appropriate response from management. We ended up calling the police anyways and filing a report (this was around Jan 2019) from my understanding that manager is no longer working here. However, I have had a few encounters with new management and left on a not so great note. On countless occasions they have charged us ridiculous amounts for maintenance around the apartment and never gave notice until billing came back so we were never aware of what was being charged ahead of time, something that would normally cost you $10 to fix will easily rack up to $60 bill. Aside from the water leak that ran through our apartment, the flea infestation you have when you step outside, the appliances that constantly need repairing, the smell of smoke burrowed in the carpet, constant ridiculous charges for simple fixes, and not to mention the times they have “lost” my packages when in actuality they were sitting in the office the whole time and lastly the charges for damages they are claiming were made that were never actually made, I’d say save your money, live somewhere else it’s not worth the headache you’ll be getting yourself into.
We had PROBLEM after PROBLEM with our appliances including the dishwasher leaking/ the washer and dryer leaking/ my bathroom sink leaking. There is no reason that I should of had to go up to the office or put in a work order everyday because one thing after another was breaking/ needed attention. My friends warned me not to live here and I should have listened. WORST mistake I have ever made was not listening to them. It will be your BIGGEST MISTAKE to live here. The Avenue could care less about your safety and well being. DO NOT LET your child live here. If you do, you will be dealing with unprofessional staff who doesn't call you back and lies to you. SAVE yourself the TROUBLE!!!
Management has changed in the last year so be careful of the time of the good reviews. This place will screw you over and take any money they can get from you. Go somewhere else!
THERE HAVE BEEN COUNTLESS INCIDENTS OF DRUG ISSUES, PROSTITUTION AND SHOOTINGS AT THIS COMPLEX. THEY WILL SCREW YOU OUT OF EVERY LAST PENNY THEY CAN. THIS PLACE IS A RACKET. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR KIDS TO LIVE HERE! SHERYL THE BOOK KEEPER IS THE MOST UNPLEASANT, RUDEST UNPROFESSIONAL PERSON THERE. THEY WILL NEVER FIX THE APARTMENT ISSUES.
This place is beautiful!! Great sized room for my 3 bedroom apt. I honestly don't know why my room was so big but I love it. BUT!!!! ... The service / issues are horrific. These people will mess up your life! If anything goes wrong, ANYTHING, they will not help you!! Even if it is something out of your control. They WILL mess up your rent somehow, then blame it on you, Then ON TOP OF THAT make YOU pay the fees! It Will happen.. Although this place is the best for your buck "at first", don't be surprised if they come up with new ways to turn that buck into a lumpsum of money you owe them for nothing at all.
Well I just this is the first time moving to an apartment and I have to say The Avenue at San Marcos is a great starting place for people who need a low rent rate. After the first couple months living here has been great! There are tons of nice people here and it isn't that far from the Texas State Campus. The have many clubhouse amenities such as a fitness center, theater room, golf simulator, tanning booths, game room, media room, business center, pool, and most importantly a hot tub. The staff is really nice and will be with you at a moments notice. If anything is damaged within the apartment maintenance will be there to fix it in 24 hours or less, which came in handy one day. It's right at home when you live here.
The Avenue in San Marcos, Tx is a very upscale student housing apartment complex. I toured multiple locations, and The Ave had the most logical square footage. Not to mention, the location is right off the interstate which makes it the perfect location for those who want a 25 minute drive to Austin. It has updated furnishings and the amenities are great! The only issue I have had as a resident, is that I am always having to host! My friends never want to leave. I recommend The Avenue in San Marcos, Tx for anyone who wants a nice, roomy apartment at an unbeatable price!
I have to admit in my experience the avenue is pretty nice so far. now i didn't get what i was shown and agreed to and i have heard some horror stories since i have been here, but so far i haven't had a lot of issues. I did have a little trouble with rent when i first moved in. i found i was paying too much for the apartment they had me in and was able to quickly get the situation resolved. also within the first week here me and my roommates along with everyone else in the Ave. lost water for a few hours but that had nothing to do with the avenue and everything to do with the construction crew down the street hitting a water line. i do have to say that the crew at the avenue has a little more work to do when it comes to servicing the tenants but the avenue is currently under new management and this manager seems fantastic at her job so i think she will do a pretty good job at correcting these issues. only time will tell...
