Terrytown, Louisiana is a neighborhood in the Westbank region of metropolitan New Orleans; that is, it’s on the more-or-less western side of the Mississippi River, across from the city. Terrytown is mostly residential and has an area of about three square miles. It borders Algiers to the north, Gretna to the west, Timberlane to the south, and Belle Chasse to the east. It’s easy to travel between New Orleans and Terrytown via the Crescent City Connection, the Westbank Expressway, and the Terry Parkway.

Living in Terrytown or nearby, you’ll be close to the annual Gretna Heritage Festival. Watch the big fish eat the little fish at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, or view the colorful beetle, moth, and butterfly collections and the butterfly garden (as well as much more) at the Audubon Insectarium. The New Orleans Museum of Art has new exhibitions every few months, as well as a large permanent collection that includes Louisiana art of the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries. At the National WWII Museum, the Boeing Center displays the fighters and bombers of World War II.
