Surf House Apartments

Extremely disorganized and dishonest management. I lived here for 10 years and changed units 3 times. They charged me for new deposit and were supposed to refund the original and all of a sudden told me there is no record of it. Be very careful with them, they will take your money and come back and say you owe them more.

Construction is been going for over 8 months, now adding rocks everywhere which is unsafe for our children and dogs. Nature is being removed little by little , looks dry and awful, which is the reason we moved in is because of all the green. Communication with tenants is lacking and poorly managed. Doggie park is taken over by large unfriendly dogs, little dogs keep away.

Overall, Advanced Management Company goes above and beyond for their tenants. AMC took ownership a few months back, and I have noticed exquisite, prominent changes. For starters, they repaired the spa that was constantly broken every 2 weeks with the old management. Then, they renovated the pool/spa by adding a beautiful awning and tiki lights. They added in brand new security cameras, making us feel more safe and protected. They fixed the parking gate that was constantly broken with the old management. Also, they have been consistently updating the landscape and shrubbery around the property, making it appear more inviting. Additionally, Surf House is a wonderful and safe community for pets! Speaking from a personal perspective, Joell is a magnanimous property manager. She is sweet, kind, professional, and extremely empathetic towards her tenants. She is always quick to respond via email or phone call. She always has a bright smile on her face to welcome her tenants and any prospective clients. She truly makes me and my fiancé feel appreciated and welcome living here. When we had a leak in our pipes underneath the foundation, Joell and the head of maintenance Oliver swiftly took care of the issue by hiring a plumbing team to repair the leaks. Now, our apartment looks as good as new again with no leaks! The maintenance team also made sure to deep clean the areas that were affected by the water that leaked out of the pipes through the floor. I am extremely impressed with how they treated us as tenants. I would highly recommend Surf House Apartments to anyone!

We were given a week notice to move our apt around so they can install new windows. I requested to postpone because my wife and I are sick. Property manager agreed (liar). When I came back from the hospital I found that a group of people in my apartment and had moved everthing around. Now i am missing my personnal belogings and need to move everything back, with covid.

Do not live at the Citron house if you are planning to have any guests over after office hours… they don’t provide you with a guest parking permit and they tow cars even when you call and let them know. This ridiculous management expect residents to make plans ONLY during office hours !!!

Renter beware - great apartments and amenities but the management team sucks. They are never available via phone for questions or issues and the manager is unprofessional and fake. She blamed a huge parking issue on the assistant manager when they failed to tell residents about the complex parking lots resurfacing. Management claimed they can’t mass email residents, so they put notices on every door at 9pm that said every car must be off property by 7am the next day for 2 days. The main manager said they knew about this for a week and it was her assistant manager’s fault for not telling residents. Cars were towed and there was no assigned place for residents to park off site. Would have been easier if the main manager did her job and followed up. This is only one of many issues residents at Citron House face. I’ve lived in a lot of places and never had so many issues with management.

I live out of the area and was getting ready to move there. The complex met the parameters for what I was looking for and I wanted to lease an apartment. Going through the process there was some mix-up in the application process on my end and it was denied. I was trying to contact the management team to clarify those aspects for them so they could have clarity on their end. They are almost impossible to get in contact with. I had called them too many times to remember and no one ever picks up the phone in their office. It's rare if they do so consider yourself lucky if they answer. I had sent numerous emails to them and no one even takes the time to respond back. There were times when I would get in contact with them and explain the situation. Every time I talked to someone in that office, to include the Assistant Manger and Manger, they said they would call me back and help amend the situation. They never returned phone calls like they said they would and don’t follow through with how they said they would help. I wanted to live here but in the end the management team is absolutely unprofessional in every way when it comes to customer service.

Good option for a single car family. Finding parking in open parking was a gamble every night even with a paid permit.

I started off really happy living here but by the end I was ready to move. First off, it's way overpriced for what it is and what you get. It's an old building, the windows rattle at the drop of a hat, the only amenities you really get as a resident are the pool and the dog park, and you will see homeless people rummaging through the dumpsters at some point and/or someone's car get broken into. There's no privacy due to the layout of the buildings and the thin walls, so expect to hear everyone's conversations at all times (and for yours to be heard too). At the end of the day, it's a mediocre building that's showing its age, off a not so great part of Beach Blvd, and the prices they're asking for are laughable. Second off, have low expectations for the leasing office here. This complex had a major fire that displaced 4 apartments in July 2021. The leasing office did not acknowledge it to any of its residents. How can you not, at the very least, send a memo to your residents just acknowledging that it happened and stating that you're on top of it? Once the fire happened I felt very unsafe living here. I often had to correct paperwork I would receive from the leasing office including outdated tenants that should not be listed anymore. It's frustrating as a resident when you pay the rent you pay and the leasing office cannot even fill out paperwork correctly. They just don't seem to care and it shows. Third, it was not unusual to see the valet trash service that you can't opt out of not pick up your trash. This happened on multiple occasion. Not the biggest deal but again, just frustrating when you're forced to pay for a service, and they don't follow through. Lastly, be prepared for the nightly swam of rowdy kids that completely take over the complex every night. They run around, yell loudly, take over the dog park, and ride their bikes all over the complex, so if you have a dog that you're trying to walk, it's extremely disruptive and almost impossible to do so while they're out. It's like clockwork every single night. Again, it just goes back to the point of you're paying such a high price to live here, and then you're dealing with these types of things.. it's just honestly not worth it. Find something better.

It appears that cosmetic things are being done rather than repairing old patio doors, old closet doors and disgusting first floor patios. The parking structures are filthy as well as sidewalks.

I have been to very high end apartments that have never been treated with so much kindness from the team at Citron

Best service I ever see in my life. Very professionals office and maintenance team management are amazing people they welcome all resident and treat them equal and that' what I like I would highly recommend this place for family and couples you will welcome by the staff and you will be so happy to be resident in this place

I would recommend, but I would mentioned that the rest is fairly high compared to areas closer to the beach (i.e. downtown). I may not recommended because you have to pay for a lot of things here, including trash, sewer, parking spaces, and a valet trash we never use (it would be nice if we could opt out of this fee).

Thinking of moving into a two bedroom so that I can have an office space but I am not certain I will do this Pacific shores. The apartment itself is lovely, the maintenance staff are phenomenal but the in between needs work. Pacific shores is one of the more expensive options in the area and I feel like the amenities are lacking and the service from the office staff is basic.

It is a well run apartment community.

Dog poop around complex. No ventilation stove. Porch sliding door is installed incorrectly. The mesh door of the porch door is inside instead of outside the sliding door. Office staff is polite.

Parking is often a hassle. Frequent security issues/break ins. Updated amenities not available but COVID restrictions poorly enforced

It' a beautiful complex. I feel a real sense of community among my neighbors and I feel so safe here. This week when they came and checked for the updated toilet system, while I trusted the gentleman doing the inspection completely, I thought it was above and beyond that there was also a female escort along with him. I can't explain how thankful I was that they looked out for my comfort, as I live here alone.

Over the last few weeks I have been talking with Clayton Dalton regarding the Pacific Shores Property in Huntington Beach. I am so happy with all that I have seen and heard about this beautiful property! I am definitely looking forward to being apart of this community in the future!

Utilities are more expensive than advertised. Wish it was for each individual unit vs whole building

Pacific Shores would be a better community to live in if they would repair things from the ground up and not try and put a quick fix on everything, because that doesn't make for longevity of having a good solid community.

Excellent Maintenance Team !

I been living her for almost a year now and i never felt so much anger as I did today. Parking here is terrible. I pay an additional $25 a month for parking when I was told in the beginning it was included in my rent. Today, they towed my car because my permit wasn’t visible and refused to pay to get my car back; even though my vehicle is listed in my lease. This is the 2nd time it happens since living here. Management is the worst. There’s new leasing agents every week. On top of that you pay double for water and trash. I will not be renewing my lease here. I highly advise you not to live here.

I have enjoyed my 4 years at Pacific Shores and wish the staff well in their efforts to continue to upgrade and maintain the property. Thank you for making improvements and for responding promptly and effectively to maintenance requests.

The service excellent

Management/leasing office seems quite indifferent about community and resident concerns. In general the apartment grounds are just mediocre. Multiple vehicle and pedestrian gates are broken for most of the time during the year. Updates from the leasing office for items like turning off building water or doing maintenance on roof typically have ZERO heads up and we are just told via email once it happens or is happening. Leasing office/management typically demonstrates horrible communication, indifference, and are unprofessional.

First apartment my boyfriend and I have moved into and I dont think we will move anywhere else until we can afford a house.

Firstly we were twice shown apartments outside of our budget (upsell). When we down sized to find one within our budget, we left the office after verbally agreeing to lease an apartment. Within 5 minutes of leaving and logging on to digitally sign the lease, the price of the Apartment drastically jumped and Pacific Shores management refused to drop the price back to the promised price. They stated it was out of their hands yet they offered to change it to half way a couple of days later. The parking spots are extra and no bills are included in the (in my opinion) overpriced rent. This is my review of dealing with this property in order to help users of this website.

Horrible. I have lived all across the country in different apartments, have great credit, never paid rent late. They sent a letter saying that they will be entering ALL apartments for a "mandatory" inspection with no reason given, and a window from Wednesday to Friday 8am to 6pm. I argued this all the way the corporate office that this was in violation of civil code in California, I was given the run around. Eventually, they opted not to search my apartment, but did not tell me this until I had already missed hours of work, which I was not compensated for. This is the second time this company has violated my privacy and rights to peace. This place has absolutely no consideration for people. They illegally enter your apartment, the apartment is infested with cockroaches (I've resorted to spraying daily on my own at my own cost) and the utilities are outrageous in comparison to other places in the area. They lure you in with the "low rent" but then charge you triple for utilities, and charge for any parking spot whatsoever. Do yourself a favor, rent elsewhere.

It’s been less than 2 months since I moved in. I regret moving here. There is dog poop on sidewalks, trash and dirt in common areas, no hot water last week, no water at all 2 days ago, no electricity last night...I’m paying good money...for this?!

Do not move in to this complex. I made the mistake of renewing my lease for a second year even though the first year was horrible. I have had problems with neighbors and the office did nothing but send letters. It is very difficult to reach the leasing office by phone. Parking for quests is a nightmare. If you do not have parking pass, your car will get towed. Most nights it is impossible to get a guest parking pass. UDR does not care about its tenants. They only want your money. Repairs are done their time frame and a broken AC unit is not considered an emergency even if its 84 degrees inside your apartment. The complex is very noisy. Do not move in here. There are many other complexes in Huntington Beach that are of similar price and much better quality. The upgraded units are given a bare minimum upgrade so that they can charge more.

We looked at a bunch of communities in the area and this was our favorite. It has in-unit washer/dryer and includes a refrigerator and A/C! That's not very common in Huntington Beach. Not to mention, the pool is beautiful and the property is in a perfect location, near the freeways and only like 10 minutes from the beach! The grounds are kept very clean and green! Lots of flowers and trees which makes it very pretty. It's like a hidden gem. My stay here has been amazing! Neighbors and staff are friendly! And Maintenance was always so quick and efficient. Can't complain, such a great price for a great upgraded apartment!

The pool is fantastic. Maintenance is fast. Apartment is small for price paid. Pet Deposit plus pet rent is too much. Should be one or the other. I don't have kids, my pets are my kids. Would they make people with kids pay kids rent? I don't think so.
