Springfield is rich with American history -- one of the final American Revolution battles, the Battle of Springfield, was fought here in 1780. The town is still home to historical landmarks from the Revolution, including the Cannon Ball House (built in 1741), which is now a museum. After British troops burned the First Presbyterian Church, it was rebuilt -- but much of the original structure remains. Today, Springfield is one of the state's most popular townships -- it was even named one of the "Best Places to Live" by Newsweek Magazine in 2010. Springfield is also home to one of the nation's top-ranking high schools, Dayton High School.
The Baltusrol Golf Club, founded in 1895, has hosted several major golf tournaments, including the 2016 PGA Championship. The private golf course is ranked as one of the best in the country by Golfweek Magazine.
