Property Ratings at SouthPark Morrison
This apartment building itself ( hallways especially) and the units in this building are so rundown, old, and musty it’s nightmarish. It’s sad because it’s a prime location with great accessibility, nice shops and restaurants surrounding it- I was shocked at how bad it actually was. Someone desperately needs to repair and renovate this place. It could be turned into a gem with some investing and hard work. I must say the one pleasant experience there was dealing with the leasing agent Jose. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient and friendly and made a very good impression. His professionalism was the shinning moment of the tour of this property.
Rude, incompetent management. The other one star review from Nov 2020 is consistent with my experience as well. I had more issues in my first two weeks here than in my entire 5 years at my last apartment.
I moved in 9/29/20 to a 1 bed, 1 bath, with a “study”. My biggest issue – the apartment was NOT clean by any standard when I moved in despite leasing consultants promises to make the place “perfect”. highlights lack of cleanliness :: I had to scrub down the agitator of the washing machine and wipe grime from everywhere around the lid. I was told they couldn’t get the cooktop clean with the products they had (I was able to), a massive ball of pet hair came out from under the stove when I swiffered on move-in day. The oven wasn’t cleaned. The fridge wasn’t cleaned inside. Bathroom sinks / tub around drains were crusty and dirty. Carpet in the bedroom has been vacuumed almost every other day and still is appalling dirty when I empty the vacuum canister (I have no pets and don’t wear shoes past the front door). Wiped EVERYTHING down from top to bottom because of paint and other dust and continue to do so weekly because the HVAC vents are covered in dirt and dust. Second biggest issue – the noise. I was very clear about my noise concerns from neighbors and hallways. That wouldn't be a concern given the construction of the building, I was assured. I hear every person and down the hallway. I hear every step upstairs neighbors take, every time they drop something, open patio doors, toilets flushing, people using the toilet. The HVAC roars. The fridge runs loudly and “knocks” for 10 minutes if you use the water or ice dispenser. Lastly, NOT luxury at all (having come from Allure) The cheapest appliances from laundry room to kitchen. The washer has no softener dispenser. The dryer doesn’t have a direct control for heat setting.I’m afraid the microwave is going to come off the wall every time I have muscle to open the door! The kitchen sink is stained. The cabinets are old and aren’t large enough to hold standard dinner plates or medium sized appliances. All the shelving is wire, old and paint covered. The bathroom sinks and tub are old and scratched. Broken outlets, missing cable connections, etc. Trash strewn parking garage. Smelly hallways. Dingy gym. The upside? The location is great. The residents are friendly. The apartment is huge Pre-leasing was a great experience. Bottom Line? Go with your gut. I had reservations about renting here and I wish I had made a different choice. I’m thankful I only have signed a 6 month lease.
My experience has been very positive at Southpark Morrison! The Management is great and responsive to both individual requests and items to improve the community. They have just redone the community spaces and they look fabulous! I love my apartment and the complex. My dog feels at home as well and we enjoy living here. Most of all I feel like if I ask Ryan and Jenn, it is addressed in a very timely manner. One aspect that I am surprisingly happy about is, how safe I feel here. That is both with the security and the residents. It is my new home and I am glad to be here!
I was shopping around for apartments and was not sure what I want until I visited southpark morrison apartments. The building management was very knowledgeable and had many options to offer based on my preferences (very picky). They addressed most of our concerns and had the right answer for our questions. They are also available after the rent agreement is signed and they make sure the tenants are completely satisfied and enjoy their stay in the apartment.
I was trying to find an apartment from a thousand miles away. The Southpark staff sent me pictures, did a Skype your, and helped me find someone to furnish the apartment. They took one of the pain out of a very stressful move!
Apartment is fabulous and the area is great, walking distance to so many places! I had to make a decision from another state and South Park Morrison was the place I wanted to be. So glad I found this one as it is perfect for me!
We came from Overseas and when we first viewed Apartment living on the Net we fell in love with plan of South Park Morrison. During the first 2 years we occupied Apartments facing the outside but for the last 3 years we have been more than happy and love the View of the pool the enchanting garden and the Clubhouse.Every amenity is within easy reach, not forgetting the Eateries to suit every palate, the grocery store, supermarket and shopping Mall.and of course a chance to enjoy peaceful reading time over a cup of coffee and muffin.....our favorite haunt. We love the interior plan of our spacious 1 bed apartment .Our stays have been made more than comfortable by the good, polite, patient and prompt service of the staff. Our only regret was that when we arrived from Overseas this year our Apartment was not fully furnished as was required which was indeed very unsettling. .No doubt the shortcoming was soon set right by the staff who made sure that we were provided with the necessities. We must mention that the Coffee bar in the Ciubhouse,a facility which we enjoyed in the early years of our stay, is no longer in existence. We really miss it.
We moved in just over a month ago and it has not been the easiest move in. The apartment is a great size, has a great layout and you can tell they have paid attention to giving it a higher end feel. We were unlucky to have been moving in during a transition of property managers, so certain things have taken longer than they should. We love the location, the building and the amenities (I am even using the gym!). We have meet most of our neighbors and they seem to be fun, hardworking, like minded people. The one issue I would raise is with their maintenance staff. They do not seem to be the most efficient, or reliable. I trust them to come and go as they need, but they are not completing work in one visit... or sometimes 2 visits. None of the issues have been life or death, but annoying nonetheless for a luxury dwelling. The leasing office staff is lovely... just overwhelmed! It's a very large complex, with a lot of people expecting luxury service... I know that gets exhausting! Overall, we have enjoyed our short experience in the complex.... it might just be a stretch to call it "luxury".
I'm new to both Charlotte and to apartment living, and so far, so good! In my search, I visited several other possibilities in the area, and this one won my loyalty for the covered parking, gorgeous floor plan, and patio with a courtyard view. I hear no street noise at all. Staff has been more than helpful with my questions about Internet, utilities, insurance, etc.
Very happy with my decision to move to the Morrison Apartments. I just moved in and I am very delighted. The staff are helpful, attentive and very friendly. The location is great right near the mall and tons of great restaurants. The building is gorgeous inside and out. Also it is very quiet and clean. I am glad to call it home!!
SouthPark Morrison is the saddest story of apartment living in Charlotte that there ever was! This property was AMAZING when Bell Properties owned it – the grounds were always well kept and landscaped, the common areas were regularly cleaned, and the staff was friendly and accommodating and hosted quarterly socials for the residents, among many other things. While the units themselves are beautiful and the location is unbeatable, since The Connor Group took over several years ago, things have gone from bad to worse… Not even sure where to begin. Allegedly, The Connor Group took over to renovate the building and make upgrades to the units/property…have yet to see any of those. Last summer, the pool was SHUT DOWN by the HEALTH DEPARTMENT for several days without any correspondence from the office staff. The coffee bar, which they still advertise as an amenity on many sites, was removed (thought this was a pretty standard amenity for a “luxury” apartment complex?). The paid, secured parking deck access is frequently broken, hallways and common areas are rarely cleaned and frequently smell of pet odors, and the grounds are commonly littered with pet waste. The new staff (who deserve a separate post just to themselves because they are so horrible to work with), will no longer accept packages for you (Bell Properties did). Instead, the staff will commonly leave packages in the mail room or hold them at the office without giving notice to the residents. Therefore, it’s not uncommon for residents to have packages stolen out of the mail room or left in the office for months at a time. If you do choose to live here, make sure you keep an eye on your bill from the front office – they nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. And don’t expect much in the way of maintenance. I recently had 2 appliances fail on me. Both were replaced with old and very dirty appliances from unoccupied units. I actually, found out later that one unit hadn’t even been replaced, the front office had lied to me. In short, I lived in SouthPark Morrison for 1.5 years under the Bell management team and would have recommended this property to anyone and everyone. Now that The Connor Group has taken over, I would never recommend this complex to anyone. It seems to be a trend as there has been a steady decline in resident retention since the sale of the property. Many longtime residents have moved out to other properties. Seriously, save your money and go elsewhere!
I recently moved to CLT and after extensive and stressful searches of properties, we found Southpark. The staff in the office are very nice and professional. If I ever had or have any concerns or issues in my Apt(such as me not knowing how to turn on my dishwasher lol) they didn’t wait at all, maintenance would be out within a few hours if not less. I’d also like to note that the maintenance guy if very nice(I’ve had some creeps in other places). The units are beautiful and grounds are all well kept. I love the amenities it offers as well as the convenience of the grocery store just steps away from your apartment. It’s very quiet here. My experience thus far has been great!
I've been a resident here at Southpark Morrison for nearly a year. I have absolutely no complaints. The units are nice with, can't beat it for the price of location. The staff are the best team that I've experienced from my experiences with and leasing office team. Jen is amazing which is the property manager. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree with Marcia and the other members of the office group. Kudos to the maintenance team and groundsmen also the also assist in making this place a great place to reside.
I've lived in various apartments throughout Charlotte and Southpark Morrison apartments are definitely my favorite so far. Pros: - Walking distance to multiple restaurants and shops - Spacious Units, modern finishes - Steel/Concrete frame - I cannot hear my neighbors, huge plus for me. You can hear folks walking down the hallway, but that's it. - Very responsive staff and maintenance teams - Does not require certain "utilities" such as valet waste or technology packages - Plenty of parking area Cons: - My apartment is near the electrical room, which emits a noticeable buzzing noise. I've gotten used to it, but can be bothersome at times. - Some gym equipment could use with updating/fixing
After living in a few different places in Charlotte, I've finally found a place that feels like home both in a design sense, and a community sense. If you're overwhelmed with looking for a place to move, put this place at the top of your list to tour. The staff is incredibly welcoming, helpful, and genuine, and will go out of their way to deliver on what you are looking for. What's more is that the floorplans are incredibly spacious, and the design makes it feel more like a home rather than an apartment. Beyond that, the location is super convenient, amenities a bonus, and comforting to have a garage to park your car. Highly recommend!!
All I can say is come take a tour and see just how awesome the staff is... even maintenance !!! Super friendly and very helpful considerate and understanding , specially if you are coming in from out of state they make your transition super easy , beautiful property as well as apartments , AWESOME LOCATION !! COME CHECK IT OUT
New to Charlotte and SouthPark Morrison staff made my transition easy! Friendly staff, great location, beautiful apartments.
I've lived at South Park Morrison for about 10 months and have enjoyed my experience. The unit itself is spacious and more importantly very quiet. Even with living on the ground floor, I hardly ever hear my neighbors which is a huge plus. The location is great with a few restaurants and two grocery stores walking distance from the property. The pool area is very nice and usually not too crowded. The only minor complaint is there's sometimes noise from delivery trucks to Earth Fare or the construction site next door. Both of which are not the fault of management, but rather a symptom of events outside the apartment. Dee and her team are very attentive and the maintenance staff has been prompt in responding. Overall a great place to live!
I moved in one month ago and it has been a good experience so far. Haven't had a chance to use the amenities but will definitely be getting pool time this summer. I like the free covered parking and the convenience of the shops. I like that the apartments seem well built and am lucky I dont have noisy neighbors. The office staff has been very helpful with my questions. I like the central location and hope to live here a long time.
Upon communicating with the highest management within this corporation I have been left very unsettled about property management companies all together. Initially I was approached about being the perfect fit for the company and that working would be beneficial to my success. After doing much research about the brand I talked with a manager and shared my concerns about the negative remarks made below, after which I was abruptly taken from within contact. There are more negative remarks about these property managers The Connor Group, than anything of actual substance positively. They only care about 1 thing, making money! They buy properties in prosperous neighborhoods, sit on high dollar property value and never invest in upgrades, to make money. They use marketing tactics like encouraging current residence to lie in exchange for compensation in marketing schemes. The turn over rate is horrible because they can not perform to their own expectations and pressure new associates to make quotes while insisting they deny current residence any additional services but continually raise rent. Honestly I would not feel SAFE living at one of their properties because I know the maintenance is contracted so basically just anybody is in apartments fixing things. Their is not reinforcement for how well things are fixed or updated. And they cut cost throughout the entire apartment complex to save money at any expense to the residents. This location is a prime example of why The Connor Group is crooked and why these people are crooks! This neighborhood is a modern lifestyle desirable to many people in a very wealth part of North Carolina. So this property has Everything going for...except for the management. They are so cheap the they can't get regular trash to pick up, so in this neighborhood trash is smelling throughout the entire garage for weeks at a time, piled high. The leasing office associates are under extreme pressure to perform, so the only people they are interested in appeasing are new tenants and resigns. If you have a request they literally have told residents "We will get to your maintenance requests when if can, our hands are tied." They continue to charge more in rent without upgrading units. And the company running the property only wants your money. If you see something about The Connor Group running a property, look elsewhere to live. It will in your best interest to do so!
My parents have been renting from South Park Morrison. They have found the office staff especially Dee to be super friendly and helpful. The complex is well maintained, is in a great location within walking distance of amenities.
First, I would like to say that there are so many good reviews on this horrible complex because the management bribed their residents when they renewed their lease to write a good review for a visa gift card. Since the Connor Group has taken over this complex, everything has gone down the drain and I am not even sure where to start. First, their customer service is unacceptable. Many people have complained about various issues and they give all of us different excuses if they even get back to us. There have been many issues that have needed "special parts" and some of these parts including the AC parts are taking 2 months. I was promised new gym equipment, cabana style pool atmosphere, updated hallways and the list goes on. The only thing I have gotten out of the Connor group has been no AC in the hallways (which I have complained about since 6/4/2016 and still to this day 7/27/2016, they are still waiting for a special part), not a clean pool, a trash bill that went up from $13 to $60, trash that is piled up in the parking garage (imagine the smell in the dead heat of summer), a sewer and water bill that keeps going up even though I haven't changed a thing. I cannot wait to turn in my 60 days notice next renewal. They did update my apartment at renewal and increased my rent $120. They told me they would be putting in hardwood flooring. I came home to the company doing the "hard wood flooring" measuring the laminate wood like flooring in the parking lot and then doing a horrible installation job. Yup, I got laminate floor that looks like hard wood all for $120 more a month. They told me that wouldn't upgrade my appliances because that would cost me another $150 a month. I also have neighbors that only got a $40 rate increase. I have lived here for 6 years and that loyalty has counted for nothing. With all the apartment complexes going up right now, I would NEVER recommend this complex to anyone!
Very difficult to deal with since the property has transferred from Bell Morrison. The quality has decreased with cleaning staff reduced and maintenance reduced as well. frequently the trash overflows and the community services are not working and are not kept clean. I would suggest looking for alternatives in the South park area.
In the year and a half since we moved here, we suffered no Viking attacks, no tornadoes, and I have not won the lottery yet. So clearly someone in the maintenance of this building knows how to ward off Long Boats and wind. I am a bit disappointed that I haven't won the big prize, but I assure you, the staff here would do their best to help you win if they could. All Jests aside, we have a 1000 square foot one bedroom apartment, perfect layout, great amenities, pool is most enjoyed by us in the early hours right after opening, the floating capabilities are endless (well, 50 x 30 feet, approximately) and the pool is engulfed in wonderful sunshine. The club house next to the pool has a gym with machines weights and a yoga room , 2 outdoor gas grills, and FREE COFFEE!! 24/7!!! Maintenance calls are answered promptly and staff are friendly helpful and not intrusive. 3 levels of garage parking was the best part for me coming from a town where parking was over $200 a month. Close by is Morrocroft Harris Teeter, 24 hr Walgreens, south Park Mall, Philip's place too! Great place!!
I have been a renter for over 20 years, in apartments of varying amenities and safety issues. I never really felt like I was home, I always knew I had one foot out the door soon after moving in my treasured things. About two years ago I found my home here at Bell Morrison with my husband, our dog and our cat. Our dog loves the multiple pet stations that provide those ever so needed plastic doggie bags, along with meeting new friends, both animal and human. The common areas include a sparkling pool, which in the heat of the south is a welcoming gift, especially after working out your bathing suit butt in the modern gym. Feeling trancendental? Relax in the yoga room, or wake your brain with some caffeine at the coffee bar. I spend most of my time in the cavernous walkin closet, or cooking up a feast in the kitchen prepped on the marble countertops. Because the Bell is so well constructed I like to chill out and enjoy the quiet on my terrace, the only sound is the humming of nature. I can rest knowing the car in safe in a covered garage, and anticipate my new shoes that will be delivered to the office tomorrow and that gives me a chance to stop by and chat with the awesome staff too. Grocery shopping, running errands, no problem since all I need is in walking distance. From salons, organic grocers, dry cleaning and sushi bars, and my favorite...the wine store. Yes, I think we will stay here for a long time, tonight it's grilling out at the clubhouse, and tomorrow, oh who cares when you live life in luxury and a dose of southern charm.
