As someone who is new to Chicago, I was concerned about trying to find a place while still living 1000 mi away, but Sono East and specifically Dynasty in the leasing office made it so easy to virtually tour the property. Application and signing were able to be done online and were easy. I had a lot of questions about the area once I got here, and Dynasty was so helpful. Thanks for making this transition an easy one.

We really appreciate your kind words about SoNo East Apartments! -SoNo East Management Office
My experience so far at SoNo East has been nothing short of stellar. The staff - from leasing, to facilities and the front desk - are so friendly and hospitable. The building is consistently cleaned and kept up to date. The dog park is extremely clean and easily accessible as well. When moving in - the process to reserve the freight elevator through the 3rd party company is so easy (and free unlike most buildings). You can tell that both the management company (Greystar) and the SoNo employees not only care about their job / residents but also enjoy doing it.

Hello, we strive for 100% satisfaction, and it is great to see you had such a positive experience at SoNo East Apartments.
I have lived here for almost 3 years. Great building with best pool and wonderful front door staff and responsive maintenance team. The only real issue is huge rent increases each year and not in line with other nearby luxury apartment rentals.
Beware--cheap, low-end finishes and appliances throughout, heat in unit it unbearable at 89 degrees (ac and heat are turned off depending on the date), construction noise begins at 7 AM, frequent staff turnover and great variation in professionalism and courtesy, water never gets cold is often cloudy, walls are paper thin, etc., etc. Very high rent for low-end living. Management is young, often punitive in tone, and condescending.

We are sorry to hear about your experience but I am here to help turn things around. I joined the team a little over a month ago, but have been with Greystar for nearly 10 years and am here to help improve your overall experience. Please contact me directly at SonoEastMgr@greystar.com so I can help work through these issues with you at your earliest convenience. Jimmy Sono East Management
The walls are very thin, you can hear both neighbors and the doors do not fit the doorway, making it even louder as sound is easily carried into the apartment from the hallway. Despite some finishes in the apartment being off center or not cleanly finished, it is a nice space with a great layout in a convenient and nice neighborhood.

We appreciate your positive review about your recent experience with us! Let us know if we can ever assist with anything! Sono East Management
Since moving in two months ago, our experience has been amazing. We love our apartment as well as the staff and amenities.
Based on my experience with the building and management team after 3 weeks I would not renew my lease at Sono East and I don't recommend anyone move here.
Hallways and common areas too cold
The building may have been better back in the day when most of the better reviews were written. This building, "shows," really well during 1 or 2 tours to an unknowing audience. It does not capture the full experience of living here. Let's start with the amenities and then move onto the Raining Urine. AMENITIES: I am writing this review in 2019. It was not until recent years that management stopped being able to control their amenities. The pool was closed in June of 2017. It was closed again in July of 2017... Remember, this is Chicago. You only have a small handful of weeks to enjoy amenities like a pool during your lease term (there are plenty of buildings that offer indoor/outdoor pools, but put that to the side). By the summer of 2018, management grew tired of sending emails out about pool closures... Maybe because they didn't want a paper trail documenting their inability to keep it open over the summer. So they started taping notices to the pool entry. Where reviews allow photos, I will be uploading an example of such a notice posted Memorial Day Weekend of 2018. Underneath the management office's writing, a tenant, not myself, wrote, "Closing pool on Memorial Day deserves more than this notice. This is unacceptable." As of writing this post - no remedy was ever offered. It was during the Summer of 2018 that a staff member threatened police action to any resident entering the pool without permission. Imagine that... The Chicago Police Department having nothing better to do than enforce Sono East's managers' policies. I have the time and date of this as well. The Apartment Units: The building's design has what reasonable people would call a flaw. The building makes it a rule for pet owners not to allow their animals to urinate on the balconies. I acknowledge it is difficult for management to enforce this rule which is why this - what I colloquially call - a design flaw is all the more apparent. The balconies have drains that direct rain water and other debris off the balcony. The drain release is flush with the building which means the animal waste, water, and debris dribbles directly onto the downstairs neighbor's balcony. The urine waterfalls are worse in Spring / Summer months so if you don't want a balcony or have a shorter term rental the above would not apply to you.
Overall, SoNo East is a great place to live. The amenities are top notch. Staff is friendly and quick to respond. There are a lot of good, nice people that live in the building. Pear Chef is a cool new addition.
Nice building, friendly leasing staff, very secure.
Maintenance staff is professional and a pleasure to work with!
Incompetent and rude management.
SoNo East is a contemporary high-rise complex located by the Red Line North/Clybourn station. Its management and maintenance teams are professional, and the community is diverse and very pet-friendly. Amenities are plenty and the life is made easy. Glad to call this place home!
SoNo East is an awesome place to live with great neighbors, a location near many amenities, bars, restaurants, grocery stores and shopping, and has an amazing staff.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my living experience at Sono East! I find the building management and maintenance team consistently repsonsive to my requests or concerns - and I love that they are always looking for ways to express their thanks to residents through fun events and highlighting community businesses. Plus, building location is fabulous! Definitely at the top of the "walkability" scale.
So far, we are blown away by how easy it is to get to work, the amenities, and the friendliness of the staff! Can't wait to see how we continue to fall in love with the building!
It is a great building in a great location with a lot of great amenities.
Sonoeast is a great residence. Location, amenities and services are all top notch!
We absolutely love the location of our apartment...just outside of the city, close to shopping & grocery, but still has a quiet neighborhood feel. The building itself is fantastic as well. Gorgeous, modern apartment, lots of nice amenities and a very friendly staff. We've been very pleased thus far.
