Gainesville is a small suburban community located about 35 miles west of Washington, D.C. Boasting terrific schools and an exceptionally low crime rate, Gainesville has become popular with D.C.-area commuters seeking the tranquility of the countryside, with upscale apartments, townhomes, and houses dominating the rental market. Residents enjoy close access to several large malls and retail centers in town, which have made Gainesville one of the region’s most popular shopping destinations.
The area surrounding the community is rich with natural attractions and historic landmarks, including Manassas National Battlefield Park and Lake Manassas. To the east, the Jiffy Lube Live amphitheater hosts major concerts and other special events throughout the year, attracting thousands from all over the region.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at SomerHill Farms Apartments
Been here several years, used to be a nice neighborhood and we enjoyed living here. Ever since the maintenance man, Gordon, who went above and beyond for residents, left in June, and management was changed around, the community has gone downhill fast. The new maintenance guy is incompetent with a terrible "not my problem" attitude. Trash around the community and dog poop has increased at a ridiculous rate. The noise from cars is outrageous and goes unchecked. The police are frequent visitors in the neighbor now, due to illegal activities in the building nearest the management office. We have been waiting on some issues to be resolved by management we requested in May 2022, and it is now October 2022, with no response on when those issues will be resolved. You are required to pay full payment for services that are barely maintained (pool only open twice a week for half the summer with poor communication, the trash valet service skipping services multiple times a week for whole floors). Noise complains not taken seriously- told to report noise to the police, police's response was that noise complaints should be handled by management. Have reached out to management to try and resolve these issues and others several times. Have been gaslit and told that things will be resolved at some point in the future with no plan or seemingly intention in place to do so. Management is often not in the office, gone for the day at odd hours and we are referred to maintenance, which is a joke. Overall, disappointed, frustrated and looking to move.
The management office is terrible. The only good person here is Gordon. I was towed with my own permit pass and they said they didn’t care because I was not in my spot. I was in visitor spot because someone was in my mine. We have travelled for work for years and have lived in multiple condos and apartments and I have never been so disappointed as I am with this place. Lease can’t end soon enough.
I love it here! It's a beautiful neighborhood, very peaceful and everyone is friendly. I unfortunately have to move this summer. My son and I will really miss this place, especially the staff. The apartment is lovely and any problems I've had were quickly addressed by the maintenance man Gordon who is so nice! The staff here has become like family to my son and I and I can't say enough good things about them, especially Julie. We will miss them so much! JM
I just moved in recently and haven't been able to use all the amenities yet but they look new and the grounds are well kept. I had one maintenance issue when I first moved in and their maintenance guy came over within 20 minutes of my call. Impressive! The office staff is ok. The person who leased our apartment doesn't seem to know much but the manager was friendly and gave us all the information we missed out on when we first came. She seemed to care more about our ability to move in without hassles more than any other place we've lived in. She even went so far as to give us a re-usable grocery bag with water and granola bars on move in day. Neighbors are super friendly- couldn't ask for a better place.
