Property Ratings at Riverside Apartments
I lived in RiverPlace apartments for just under a year. We were getting constant calls for complaints about our dogs barking when we had a camera on them that recorded (sound and video) and no barking was on there. We never left the dogs for more than two hours either. We had to break our lease due to being in the position to buy a house. We had to pay a large fee for “marketing” and they barely marketed the apartment. The night before our rent was due for the next month (we weren’t living there) Kathy called and told us to cancel our payment as we didn’t need to pay August rent. Come to find out they are charging us for August rent now even though they told us not to and had rented out our apartment. When doing the move out inspection Kathy was extremely rude and condescending. I had spent over two hours scrubbing the oven clean and she claimed it was “unacceptable” and they typically do a “spray and soak for a few hours” to get it clean. If that is how you want it cleaned then tell your tenants that instead of charging extra and being rude. The washing machines were also being misused by tenants resulting in my laundry to get dirty after I had already paid to wash it just to have to pay again to do it all over. They did not do anything about it (no cleaning the machine/reimbursing). The only nice management person was Bobbi.
Crime rate is very high. I have had packages stolen and cars were broken into. Extremely overpriced for what you get. The only thing new they updated was painted the cabinets white some units have new flooring and installed security cameras after years of theft complaints. Landlord is not friendly, takes them forever to fix things. I would highly recommend staying in the laundry room when doing laundry, had my clothes stolen. The gym is missing equipment, outdated or broken. Walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbors talk. Carpets smell like dog and cat urine. You can smell smoke and pot throughout the whole complex. The complex has very bad plumbing bathtub was always backed up. The appliances are very old and barely functional. Dog poop is never picked up especially in the winter time. Dog poop bin is always over flowing and replaced about once a month. Some garage doors don’t even have locks you have to provide your own. Heat sometimes doesn’t work, (baseboard heating) very old thermostats. They do apartment inspections once a year in random apartments and they don’t tell you what apartments they will be inspecting. They put a generalized note on all units. Overall, you can get a better apartment somewhere else for the same price. I would never recommend this apartment complex to someone you care about. For a one bedroom apartment, in a college town, this apartment is pretty average. There is more than enough space for one person. I wish there were smaller apartments available for a lesser price, in a safer more grown up area of town like this. Kitchen and cupboard space is pretty good. The refrigerator was replaced twice in the three years I have lived here but was promptly replaced with no issue. This complex was built in 1994, has no dishwasher or microwave, and is a little outdated, but probably the nicest for the price in this town. I'm not a big fan of shaggy white carpet and tile so I was happy the carpet is a thinner light brown and the tile is mainly yellow, my favorite color! I love the open space created with the living, dining and kitchen areas. I also love that I have a deck that faces out to the woods and that there is a laundry room right across the hall. My main complaint is that the walls are paper thin and should have been built with better quality, especially given that children and animals are allowed to live in the building.
